It’s fair to say that online shopping has been revolutionary. The internet has become the everything store, where no matter what you need, it’s out there somewhere, and you can get the best price available without even getting out of your pajamas.
That said, there are definitely some things you should still shop for in person. I know, the mall is noisy and full of people, but sometimes you just have to bit the bullet and do it. I mean, would you buy a pair of shoes without trying them on first?
Shoes are one thing – you need those to fit well if you’re going to wear them regularly.
Clothing should be a bit easier to purchase over the internet.
Sure, sizes can vary from store to store, but generally speaking, they should be in the right ballpark. And it’s not like shopping for clothing online is a new phenomenon.
The kinks *should* have been worked out by now.
Still, one Twitter user wants to remind us that the experience can be a bit like a box of chocolates – you never really know what you’re going to get.
Like so many of us, Jodie Howard’s eye was caught by a bright online ad.
In an interview with Dublin Live , Jodie said that she saw the ad for a bright yellow dress from a site called Lux Noire come up when she was on Instagram and clicked in. She went ahead and ordered the dress.
Almost immediately after placing her order, her bank flagged her purchase.
Maybe the bank’s question about the site’s authenticity should have been a sign, but Jodie wanted the dress, so she went ahead with the purchase anyway.
Two weeks later, the dress arrived, but right away she knew something was wrong.
I’m no expert, but I’m pretty sure clothes are supposed to come in larger packages.
Jodie was certain it was too small.
So certain that she started laughing when it came, giggling so hard that she took a video of it and posted it on her Twitter.
Honestly, it’s a treat watching her crack up over the parcel.
We can only hope that we’d be just as amused if one of our online purchases went so far sideways, right? But then, sometimes what can you do but laugh?
“I was excited when it came but was a bit shocked when I saw the size of the package,” she recalled later.
Of course, what was inside the package bore little resemblance to the dress she had seen on the store’s website.
“What came out was even worse,” she said. “I found it quite funny and it was a bit difficult to get on as it was so small.”
“Small” might be an understatement. It was, in effect, un-wearable.
Only with her mom’s help could she even get into the dress.
And again, she couldn’t help laughing at the absurdity of it.
“My mam and I had a laugh trying to get it on and found it hilarious when I finally got it on as it was completely see through.”
Of course, she posted the results of her attempt to wear the dress, compared to the model, on her Twitter as well.
Not only did her followers get to have a good laugh alongside Jodie, but some shared their own tales of online shopping misfortune – some even involving the same site Jodie had ordered from.

“It looked nothing like the images on the website, their stuff is awful, I got one bodysuit that was decent,” wrote @laurenn_l .
Funny enough, the yellow dress’s model chimed in on Jodie post as well.
“They used my picture on the left,” she wrote , “dress wasn’t even that brand. Still the funniest thing I’ve ever seen. Get your money back asap.”
Apparently Jodie did try to get her money back, but it’s unclear whether she had any luck.
Another person wrote about their experience with the same site, saying that the “exact same thing happened me with a bikini off that website.”
Jodie replied , saying “Disgrace of a website, so rude when I emailed them too.”
So, it sounds like Jodie won’t be ordering from there again.
As reviews go, breaking out in hysterics when your order is just that wrong doesn’t inspire a lot of confidence.
And given how many other folks have had similar issues, avoiding that site seems wise.
Definitely a good example of why you should do a little research into any unfamiliar online store before you fill up your cart.
Here’s hoping Jodie isn’t out the money for her purchase after all!
