A Texas steakhouse put a bigoted customer in her place in an epic way, and social media is here for it.
When the customer — who sounds like, well, a true ‘Karen’ — made homophobic and transphobic remarks about a server, the restaurant clapped back on Facebook.
Where do you go for a steak dinner?

Results will vary based on geography, but most towns and cities have at least one place that knows how to grill a steak really well. In the small city of Hereford, Texas, Dakota’s Steakhouse is the place to go.
Dakota’s is well reviewed.

It sounds like they cook up a mean steak, and that’s appropriate as Hereford bills itself as the ‘Beef Capital of the World.’ But that isn’t the reason Dakota’s has been blowing up social media lately.
Facebook user Lauren Lee highlighted an epic interaction.

We’ll keep you in suspense for just a moment so you can read Lauren’s description and the response. In short, Lauren called attention to a bit of a spat that took place on the Dakota’s Facebook page.
Here’s the interaction, in all its glory.

As you can see, the Karen in this situation is actually called Debbie. Debbie has a problem with ‘boys who look like women’ and then doubles down in a later comment. At the end, though, Dakota’s put her in her place.
There’s just no coming back from that.
In one fell swoop, Dakota’s called the customer out for her bigotry, embraced diversity, and then threw shade on her for not knowing how to cook. It seems like Debbie had no further response.
The steakhouse is reaping some goodwill.

Going through their reviews, it’s hard to find any recent comments that actually discuss the food or service. That’s because right now, Dakota’s is having a moment following their clapback to the bigoted customer.
Looks like Dakota’s will be getting more business soon.

It’s one thing to be an institution within your small community, it’s quite another to go viral and attract the notice of people around the world. Hereford, Texas isn’t a big tourist destination, but Dakota’s might change that somewhat.
Well done!
It’s disappointing to see people who are so openly bigoted in the 21st Century, but it’s reassuring to see the response when they try to pull this nonsense. The response makes it crystal clear that they’re on the wrong side of history.
They probably never expected to go viral.

The story has picked up steam on Facebook, Reddit and Twitter. According to Snopes , the story is absolutely true, as confirmed by a manager.
