It’s basically common knowledge that Hollywood is all about looks and they aren’t afraid to hurt somebody’s feelings. It’s a very tough industry.
Hollywood’s latest victim? Game Of Thrones actress, Sophie Turner.
It appears that there’s an even darker side to “Game Of Thrones” than we thought.
Sophie Turner claimed that being on the show as a teenager until now, fans and coworkers have seen her body go through certain changes.
“I have experienced mental illness firsthand and I’ve seen what it can do to the people around [the sufferers] as well,” she told Marie Claire.
Sophie explained that as she got older, her metabolism started to slow down, causing some weight gain.
“My metabolism suddenly decided to fall to the depths of the ocean,” she said.
“I started to get spotty and gain weight, and all of this was happening to me on camera,” she said.
She revealed that suddenly having her body criticized by fans and the show’s studio began to take a toll.
That’s when she decided that she needed to seek therapy.

“Everyone needs a therapist, especially when people are constantly telling you you’re not good enough and you don’t look good enough,” she said.
“I think it’s necessary to have someone to talk to, and to help you through that.”
Sophie has recently spoken to Dr. Phil McGraw about her history battling depression and body-shamers.
“You see 10 great comments and you ignore them, but one negative comment and it just like, throws you off,” she said.
“People used to write, ‘Damn, Sansa gained 10 lbs.,’ or ‘Sansa needs to lose 10 lbs.’ It was just a lot of weight comments,” she continued.
“Or I would have spotty skin because I was a teenager and that’s normal”.
“But I used to get a lot of comments about my skin and my weight and how I wasn’t a good actress.”
Obviously, hearing comments like that in large volumes every day, especially at such a young age, is bound to cause issues with one’s self-esteem.
She explained that it was affecting her ability to work on a regular basis.
“I would just believe it. I would just say, ‘Yeah, I am spotty, I am fat, I am a bad actress.’ I just believed it,” she said.
“I’d get them to tighten my corset a lot. I just got very, very self-conscious. I would be concerned about angles,” she went on.
“I’d be concerned about my face. It would just affect me creatively and I couldn’t be true to the character because I was just so worried about Sophie.”
She admitted that being in therapy has improved the state of her mental health significantly.
And the fact that she just recently married the love of her life, Joe Jonas, in Vegas probably helped as well!
“I feel much better. I’ve been doing therapy at CAST centers, actually. I’m on medication,” she said.
“ I love myself now, or more than I used to, I think,” she went on.
“I don’t think I loved myself at all. But I’m now with someone that makes me realize that I do have some redeeming qualities, I suppose.”
“When someone tells you they love you every day, it makes you really think about why that is and I think it makes you love yourself a bit more. So yeah, I love myself,” she said.
We couldn’t be happier that Sophie is finally realizing what a talented bombshell she is.
It’s a pretty solid indicator that Joe Jonas is going to make a great husband if he’s managed to boost Sophie’s confidence so much in the time they’ve been together.
