We’re in the midst of a worldwide pandemic, one unlike any we’ve seen in living memory. It’s an uncertain time for everybody, but it’s especially tough for parents who want to keep their kids informed without frightening them.
Current events can be a scary subject.

Hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of people, are expected to die of COVID-19. It’s virtually impossible to shield yourself, or shield your kids, from some of the sobering statistics.
Kids have lots of questions.

Even if they’re relatively shielded from the news, kids are going to wonder why they can’t see their friends or their relatives. Talking about it with them is a daunting challenge.
Sesame Street to the rescue!
The beloved show has been helping kids tackle tough subjects for decades now. And now, during this weird time, the show is going to help parents and kids take on the topic of COVID-19.
It’s a show that does a lot of good.

Sesame Street has a long track record of helping kids understand prejudice, poverty, same-sex marriage and a host of other topics that are often complex and nuanced.
They’re teaming up with CNN.

A TV special, in which everyone’s favorite characters share a screen with CNN medical correspondent Dr. Sanjay Gupta, aims to help parents and kids better understand the pandemic.
It’s structured as a town hall.

This is crucial, as it poses questions to the characters and to Dr. Gupta. It’s a format that lends itself well to interactivity.
It airs on April 25.

If you miss it, it’s likely that you and your kids will be able to catch it on YouTube. Let us know how you and your kids are holding up in the comments section!
