Over the past ten years, Modern Family has allowed its fans to watch the characters grow into interesting and complex people.
Some of the best storylines have been given to Haley Dunphy, played by Sarah Hyland.

We’ve literally watched Sarah grow up.
Modern Family has been on for ten years now, so we’ve been lucky enough to see Hyland evolve.
Sarah has been through a lot while filming.
During the course of the show, Sarah revealed that she’d been dealing with kidney dysplasia, which required her to undergo a kidney transplant in 2012, with her dad donating one of his kidneys to her.
The transplant was unfortunately not a success, and she had to undergo a second one in 2016.
Sarah revealed that this time, it was her brother who donated one of his kidneys to help her out. Sarah’s gone through so much over the course of Modern Family , and come out stronger on the other side.
The same can be said for her character, Haley.
Over the ten seasons of the show, all characters have grown up and grown into fully realized people, but the change is probably the most noticeable for Sarah Hyland’s Haley Dunphy.
She started off as the “ditzy” older sister.
All she cared about was essentially herself, and many cracks were taken at her intelligence, especially by her younger sister, Alex. Over the years, Haley grew up, went to college, and got a real job.
Haley getting pregnant was quite a shock!
But, it was a good one.
It was one of the many milestones that fans got to see Haley experience.
The show continues to hold up, and even watching Haley tell the family she was pregnant managed to tug at some heartstrings.
No, seriously.
We learned that Hayley wasn’t having just one baby.
Nope, she was having twins!
And longtime fans of the show were thrilled about this exciting twist for Hayley.
Anyway, we can’t wait to see Haley as a mom!

The show is no stranger to cute babies.
With three different actresses playing precocious Lily over the years, and four actors playing baby Joe, there has been no shortage of adorable babies on the set, and it looks like these twins will be continuing the saga.
On working with the babies, she said:
“They’re the cutest thing in the entire world and my ovaries were exploding and I was just freaking out about that,” she told Entertainment Weekly .
“If somebody else had the babies I wasn’t paying attention to what they were doing with the babies,” she added.
“I was just like, ‘When is someone going to hand me the babies now?’”
Sadly, the series is coming to an end.
We won’t get to see too much of Hayley tackling motherhood, but hey, that’s what spinoffs are for, right?
