Actress and all-around goddess Salma Hayek is getting candid about her near-fatal COVID-19 diagnosis last year. Her battle with the virus was kept a secret from fans, until now.
The Oscar-nominated actress r ecently spoke out for the first time about contracting the virus in a recent cover story for Variety and fans are sending the actress love for what she called a near-death diagnosis.

Fans have recently learned that the actress almost lost her life in a battle with COVID-19 at the beginning of the pandemic.
In the months following the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, many celebrities have come forward with their near-death experiences.
Recently, Pink got candid with fans about how she felt she and her son were going to die last year amidst their battle with COVID-19.
“We had COVID last year, very early in March. It was really, really bad, and I rewrote my will. I thought it was over for us,” she said.
“At the point where I thought it was over for [she and Jameson],” she recalled.
“I called my best friend and I said, ‘I just need you to tell Willow how much I loved her.’ It was really, really scary and really bad.”
“As a parent, you think about, ‘What am I leaving for my kid? What am I teaching them?'”
She continued:
“Are they going to make it in this world?’ — this crazy world that we live in now — and what do I need to tell them if this is the last time I get to tell them anything?'”
Now, fellow entertainer and mother Salma Hayek is opening up about her near-death battle with the virus.
“My doctor begged me to go to the hospital because it was so bad,” Salma told Variety’s Marc Malkin. “I said, ‘No, thank you. I’d rather die at home.'”
She went on to reveal she was isolated in a room in her home for seven weeks and at one point was put on oxygen.
The actress told the publication she still hasn’t fully regained the energy she once had.
However, in classic Salma fashion, she was soon off filming a movie right after her near-fatal COVID battle.
The film, *House of Gucci* was the “perfect” project for Salma to jump headfirst into following her health scare.
“It was not a lot of time,” she recalled. “It was easy. It was the perfect job to just get back into it.”
“I had started doing Zooms at one point, but I could only do so many because I would get so tired.”
Fans were so happy to hear Salma was able to fight through her battle with COVID-19.
Salma went on to tell the publication what it means for her to be an female action star.
“If you are a woman and you are in a movie that is very successful and they say you are their favorite character, they will still give all credits of the box office to the guy. They don’t count who you’re bringing into the theaters.”
“It’s kind of hard to be an action hero if you’re Mexican. It’s really hard to be an action hero if you’re a Mexican and a woman. But to be an action hero, being Mexican, a woman, and my age, it felt like they were punking me,” she added.
” And then the worst part is that I was one of the first people they cast. I had to keep my mouth shut for so many months. I couldn’t tell a soul. And I couldn’t wait for the day that I could say it.”
