Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer premiered 56 years ago! And if you’ve ever seen it, you would even say it ROCKS! All of the other Christmas specials used to laugh and call it names, they’d never let poor Rudolph win the best Reindeer in the game! Then one foggy Christmas Eve, Santa came to say “Rudolph with your nose so bright, won’t you win the best movie tonight!” Then how the other movies loved him, as they shouted out with glee, “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, you’ll go down in history!”
This 1964 classic has been a Christmas staple since it first premiered over 50 YEARS ago! In fact, today is Rudolph’s 56th birthday! Dang, he is looking way better than me at 56-years-old!
Interestingly enough, this movie has made me cry every year! Literally every single Christmas .
I’m not proud to admit that a stop-motion reindeer has made me blubber cry year after year, but that’s where the world is at right now.
And honestly, don’t even get me started on the Island of Misfit Toys. While I’m usually good to hold my composure at the sad, depressed toys, this year all bets are off.
There’s nothing like grabbing a cozy blanket, a spiked hot chocolate, and a whole tin of Quality Street and watching this Christmas classic with others, or as I prefer, alone!

It’s hard to imagine a time when people didn’t get to enjoy this movie! 56 years ago those poor people didn’t have air fryers or Pinterest either — the horror!
Might as well have been prehistoric times if you ask me!
People on social media have been celebrating our beloved red-nosed Reindeer while simultaneously roasting the Santa from the movie and honestly, I kind of agree.
There’s a difference between being cranky (me) and being downright rude, (Santa from Rudolph ).
He was honestly kind of a user, calling upon Rudolph in the eleventh hour because he needed him after dismissing him throughout the whole film!
And don’t even get me started on THE LACK OF RESPECT fans give the greatest elf, Hermey! All he wants is to be a dentist and HELP OTHERS but is told he is just dreaming *too big*!
He is truly the unsung hero of this TV special and I demand respect for Hermey this holiday season!
If you missed the first showing of *Rudolph* this past week, DON’T FRET! It will be airing again on CBS on Sunday, December 13th!
