Relationships especially marriages are about compromises in certain situations. If one’s significant other can’t come through for them in such delicate times, things could go awry. A Reddit user who dealt with such an issue regarding her spouse shared her story with fellow Redditors while seeking an opinion on where she went wrong. The Redditor made it known that her spouse had an emergency on the day she and her kids were busy, but he just could not fathom why one of them could not compromise their time for him.
She explained that her blended family included two teenagers a boy and a girl, who were from her older relationship, and a toddler of three whom she shared with her husband. The Reddit mom stated that on the fateful day the issue cropped up, she had an important meeting with her brother and his girlfriend whom she was meeting for the first time. It was her husband’s turn to watch their toddler son, but something came up in between his duty.

According to the Redditor’s write-up , her father-in-law had been taken to the hospital for an emergency, and her spouse needed to be there. At the same time, she was away with her brother and his girlfriend and deemed an important meeting that she could not leave. She explained that her husband asked the older kids and this was also a dead end.

Apparently, the boy could not watch his little brother because he was going to hang out with some of his friends and he could not reschedule. The man asked his stepdaughter and she ended up locking herself in her room to study. He eventually had to take the toddler to the hospital with him, while his mom watched the boy.
The original poster explained that when her husband returned from the hospital he lashed out at everyone calling them “selfish and unfeeling.” She stated that when she tried explaining to him that they were all busy, he lashed out at her telling her the older brother could have postponed his hang-out, while the sister could have studied and babysat the toddler at the same time.
Ultimately the disgruntled partner canceled the family vacation plans for the holiday and things escalated. The Redditor noted that she argued that it was unfair that he would cancel their vacation plans, but he remained adamant, and presently the family members are not speaking to each other. In an update, she stated that her spouse later announced to them that he would be spending Christmas with his family as he needed to be with his dad. Now that the holiday plans are off, her older kids also plan to celebrate Christmas with their father.
