Some days, I wake up bright eyed and ready to get productive. Other days, I somehow manage to roll out of bed and find my laptop only barely in time to log into work.
Today is definitely the latter.
Unfortunately, that seems to be more and more common these days.
The ratio of good mornings to bad mornings is shifting in a rather upsetting way, frankly.
Like, at what point do I have to sacrifice my “Morning Person” label to the coffee gods?
It’s not like I’ve suddenly become a night owl, either. I’m still passing out before 10 PM whether I want to or not.
I’ve tried plenty of alarm options too.
Loud siren noises, calming chimes, talk radio, upbeat music…you name it, I’ve tried it.
They all start working okay through novelty, but give it a week or so and I’m sleeping right through them again.
There is one guaranteed cue to get my a*s up and moving though: my dogs’ bladders.
On mornings when they’ve really got to go, it’s a race between their ability to hold it and my ability to get to the back door before a mop is required.
But I wouldn’t say I’m bright-eyed and bushy-tailed on those mornings.
Alas, I think it’s just time to switch up my alarms again and make sure there continues to be coffee within reach. Bottoms up.
