Oh boy. Exercise .
Is there honestly any other word in the human language that can inspire fear, dread, and frustration, all at the exact same time? That really takes talent. Well done, exercise, well done.
Seriously, there’s something about hearing the word that makes me tense up and have instant flashbacks to middle school gym class, the one when my teacher publicly shamed me for not being able to do a push up. Shout out to Ms. Kelly for that trash can fire of a memory.
When I first really started pushing myself to workout more as an adult, it began with a trip to the mall.
You know, like how most big life changes do.

I hit up all the stores I knew would offer the cutest, prettiest workout clothes possible because in my mind, if I was about to start huffing and puffing inside a crowded gym, I was going to look good .
Of course, the cute outfits are really only a super small part of being physically active.
You still actually have to push yourself to do the kinds of exercises you always dreaded doing during fitness week at school.
Burpees, jumping jacks, sprints, etc. You know what I’m talking about.
And dare I say, sometimes wearing a cute outfit really isn’t enough.
Those hot pink workout leggings might make you feel like a fierce fitness queen when you leave the change room, but they won’t really help you survive twenty minutes on the treadmill.
You need to truly become that fierce fitness queen, with or without those leggings. Then and only then can you master the kind of intimidating machines that make you sweat before you even get on them.
Of course, you also need to keep up with exercising to make all that happen, too.
Otherwise you’ll just end up with a closet full of gorgeous, albeit severely unworn workout clothes that deserve so much better than you.
Or you could just start wearing those hot pink leggings to the grocery store while buying your snacks. Honestly, whatever works for you, sis.
