It’s genuinely hard to even imagine now, let alone believe, but there was once a time in my life when I actually enjoyed doing laundry.
I know, insane right?
But alas, I used to look forward to the time spent inhaling fabric softener, pressing fresh-out-of-the-dryer linens to my cheek, and quietly folding clothes on the couch while watching a movie.
Of course now that I’m doing more than just my own laundry, things have changed entirely.

Yeah, suddenly it’s not so fun when you realize your clothes only making up a small percentage of that “to wash” pile.
Then you start to get a little bitter, especially towards the person or people whose clothes make up the rest of it.
I actually used to be super diligent about doing laundry, too.

I carved out one day a week specifically for getting a few loads done, and would run around gathering absolutely anything and everything that could use a good spin cycle.
Now I find myself standing in the kitchen with an arm full of towels, debating whether that dirty dish cloth really needs to go in the wash yet or if it can wait a week or two.
And then, of course, there’s the folding. The never-ending *folding*.

I saw a video last week of a mom on TikTok getting very excited about having just learned how to expertly fold and roll towels like people at spas do.
But personally, I can’t be bothered to spend ten minutes folding one single towel, no matter how cute and perfect it’ll look afterwards. That towel’s lucky it’s even getting folded at all.
At the end of the day, I really and truly just cannot believe the sheer *amount* of laundry that’s always needing to be done.

Seriously, I know I’m not wearing that many clothes, and I’m pretty sure it’s physically impossible for the people in my house to wear that many, either.
So let me ask this: who else is living in my home, and why the heck can’t they do their own laundry??
