I once lived in an apartment covered with carpet from the previous owners. Oh boy, what a mistake that was. I actually ended up breaking out into hives and had an extreme allergic reaction to it. We got rid of it once we figured out it was the culprit.
So when I heard the story of this “gray” carpet getting a thorough cleaning job , I was instantly intrigued.

So why is this story so intriguing, you ask?
Let me tell you a little backstory on it. A homeowner recently had their carpet professionally cleaned, and what the cleaning uncovered not only shocked them but the cleaners as well.
They thought their carpet was a chic, dark gray color.
As it turns out, the original carpet was actually light beige in color. The gray was all the dirt and grime that settled on the carpet. Shocking, I know!
Once the cleaner started steaming the carpet, all became clear.
As the cleaners went on, the original beige color started to appear. The difference in the two colors was pretty astounding, to say the least. I bet you’re scratching your head right about now, huh?
One question that immediately popped into my mind was: How could they have not known this?
Perhaps the homeowners just moved into this house, and the carpet came with the place? Other than that, I can’t justify this find. Am I right?
After the video of this carpet cleaning experience got posted on TikTok, people started commented in throwes.
Everyone seemed pretty baffled by the state of this carpet. I guess I’m not the only one who was shocked to see these results.
Most folks couldn’t believe that anyone would keep a carpet in this shape.
I mean, how could the original owners not notice the color change? That doesn’t seem to make sense to me. What do you think of it?
And if the carpet was really that dirty and grimy, then why didn’t it smell?
I can’t imagine that not being the case. That would have been my first indication that perhaps it needs a thorough cleaning. Are you with me on this?
Other folks commented that this is exactly why they opt not to have a carpet in their home.
I have to admit, I pretty much agree with them. If my experience with carpet I shared with you earlier taught me anything, this would be it. Stay away from carpet!

Or have you seen a carpet in terrible shape like this one before? I’ve got to admit I’m not a fan of carpets at all. I much rather get an area rug any day.
