Many dogs are known for their boundless enthusiasm, but it’s also true that they can sometimes be a little too excited and curious for their own good.
Anybody who’s ever had to bathe their dog in tomato juice after an encounter with a skunk can attest to this, but pet owners can also see signs of this when they discover the fluffy remains of what used to be a plush toy strewn throughout the house.
And as if the cleanup wasn’t bad enough, the sullen look in the dog’s eyes when it realizes what it’s done isn’t something anyone wants to see.
Fortunately, there’s one toy manufacturer out there that’s just as conscious of this problem as you are.
If you’ve haven’t seen her already, then it’s time for you to meet Consuela the Cactus.

In recent years, she’s become one of the flagship products of the pet accessories company BarkBox. And while her adorable winking face may be part of why, it’s not the main reason.
Indeed, she doesn’t really stand out until an overstimulated doggo rips her apart.

As you can see, this then unlocks another hidden cactus inside of her. The only difference is that this one has a frowny face and it’s missing her distinctive flower.
As you might tell from these little bumps, the second, sadder cactus features a classic “spiky ball” toy inside.

According to Barkshop , Consuela is about six-and-a-half inches by five-and-a-half and comes in one medium size.
That, however, is not true of her friends.

If you’ve got a particularly small or large dog, it might be better suited to Penny the Pineapple.
As you can see, Penny has the same defining feature as Consuela, but comes in either the 3” x 7”’ small size or the 4” by 9” large size.
If you want the toy inside to look exactly the same as the outside, however, BarkBox has something for you as well.

Out of all of the products we’ve discussed, Monsieur Acorn here seems the least bothered about being torn up in a dog’s teeth. He also comes in the same sizes as Penny.
All three versions of this toy are available for $10 each from the Barkshop website. Note that they only ship within the United States, however.
