When news broke of a live-action remake of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs many Disney fans were excited. Live-action remakes of several classic Disney cartoons have been successful, and with Hollywood heavy-hitters like Gal Gadot already signed on, the film is already highly anticipated.
However, actor and Hollywood veteran Peter Dinklage isn’t all that impressed with the remake and recently spoke out about it.
While chatting on Marc Maron’s “W*F” podcast, the ‘Game of Thrones’ actor made it clear he thought the remake wasn’t the best idea.
He bashed the classic Disney story, whose live-action remake will star Gal Gadot, Andrew Burnap and Rachel Zegler as Snow White.
“There’s a lot of hypocrisy going on I gotta say, from somebody who’s a little bit unique,” she explained.
“Literally no offence to anyone, but I was a little taken aback when they were very proud to cast a Latina actress as Snow White,” he continued.
“But you’re still telling the story of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs .”
“Take a step back and look at what you’re doing there. It makes no sense to me.”
He went on to explain the hypocrisy of the film being progressive in some parts, but completely outdated and inappropriate in another.
“You’re progressive in one way but then you’re still making that [explective] backwards story about seven dwarfs living in a cave together, what the [explective] are you doing, man?”
“Have I done nothing to advance the cause from my soap box? I guess I’m not loud enough,” he added.
It’s clear he doesn’t blame the actors involved but is mostly just confused as to why the film is being made again in the first place. He goes on to say he just hopes they remake it in a more appropriate for 2022 kind of way.
“If you tell the story of Snow White at its most [explective] up, cool, progressive spin on it? Let’s do it. All in. But I just don’t know,” he concluded.
