For as long as human beings have been walking around on two legs, we as a species have always been plagued by the question of eternity. More specifically, what happens to us after we die ?
Sadly, the only people who are in any kind of position to offer an honest response are no longer speaking. However, there are numerous accounts of people who’ve had near-death experiences, claiming to have made contact with the other side .

Redditor jobfinished111 explained how they were once put into a medically induced coma in order to help save their life. During this time, they had no sense of self and were overcome by feelings of extreme comfort and peace.

Reddit user ProfessorBeer’s wife had a kayaking accident and nearly drowned. She compared the entire experience to a free fall, wherein she was unable to determine whether or not she was alive or dead.
Having contradicting emotions is common.

When Reddit user ChaoticInsomniac fell unconscious during an emergency C-section, she experienced a great feeling of weightlessness. She also said that her sense of self completely vanished as she became a constant source of pure energy.
A mother’s strength and will is unmatched in this world.
When Redditor begra23 was giving birth to her son, she nearly bled out on the table. The best way she could describe the sensation was like crawling inside a warm blanket.
Something out of nothing.

A true out-of-body experience.
Redditor bhappyy describes the feeling of near death like returning home. They were completely outside of their body and swears that at one point, they were looking down on their lifeless corpse.
It feels like a mighty wind is blowing.

Reddit user WeirdJawn remembers the sensation of a strong wind during their near-death experience. It was as if they were being blown away from their body and had to fight to get back.

Reddit user perpetuallyanalyzing may have experienced a past life during their near-death experience. When they finally came to, they were speaking in a British accent and using British slang, even though they’d never once visited the UK.
Climb the ladder.

“I had a similar experience while in surgery for a collapsed lung. I climbed a blue ladder into a boat on a sea of blue, red, and yellow berries. I didn’t die on the table, but they had difficulty getting me to breathe after finishing the chest tube.” – Reddit u/Enantiodromiac

After losing her son, Redditor ShellaStorm overdosed on Ativan. She remembers being in a great forest, surrounded by lush plants and strange animals. Then, out of the clearing, her son came to her and told her that it wasn’t her time.
Home is on the other side of that mountain.

Redditor yeahyeahiknow2 has miraculously come back to life on five different occasions. Each time, they recall seeing expansive seas and mountain ranges as far as the eye could see. If they wanted to travel, all they had to do was shut their eyes and they’d simultaneously arrive.
What if there’s nothing waiting for you?

Reddit user crazypepsicat remembers absolutely nothing. One day they simply fell asleep, and the next they woke up in a hospital bed surrounded by monitors and connected to various machines. To this day, they still don’t know what happened.
