There are two types of friendships in the world—those that withstand the test of time and those that, well, don’t. Some friendships are built to last forever, no matter what happens or how far apart people may get. When people are meant to be in each other’s lives forever, they just are.
Other friendships have a breaking point. There is something that happens that there is just no turning back from. Things change and the friendship is just never the same. Unfortunately, it happens to more people than you would expect. Recently, people online began to share what that “moment” or “incident” was that truly ended their friendships with someone forever.

Cheating with their friend’s partner

steri_ka shared that their friend slept with his girlfriend of seven years, in his own home, on his own bed. Not only did they stop being friends and he had to endure a breakup, but they were a group of seven friends that all broke apart because of this. No one could ever look at anyone the same after this went down.
A car accident

“Four friends were in the car when it got T-Boned. Totally the other driver’s fault, she was going too fast into a blind hill. Our friend in the seat that was closest to the accident died from internal injuries. The last time we were all together was his funeral. We see each other around town now and again, still have mutual friends, we’re all in a “Remembering (friend)” facebook group with his family. But for some reason we all just. Never got together again. No one talks about it,” Its_Curse shared.
He’s no longer welcome to play

Solenthis87 said that he was a regular player of D&D, also known as Dungeons and Dragons, and they had a regular group who played together. One day, before they were slotted to meet up and play, an ex of a player messaged them and said that the player had gotten arrested. It turns out, he was arrested for having hundreds of inappropriate photos of children. The Reddit user said it “ruined his character” and he was no longer welcome among them, or anyone else they knew.
Bad advice is bad advice

OkUnderstanding9627 confessed that his high school friend group just didn’t understand much…at all. He shared that they were close in high school, but shortly after he got married and started a family. Being a young couple, they struggled financially a bit. One evening he went out with his friend group and brought up some of the troubles they were going through, just venting to get things off of his chest. Their advice? Abandon your wife and child—of course. Needless to say, the Reddit user didn’t hang out with them again.
Wasted time and money

“Friend asks all of us to be bridesmaids in her wedding, lets us buy dresses and get them altered, then gets married in her backyard alone without telling any of us. We found out when the wedding pictures were posted on Facebook,” heysmilinstrange explained.
The law stands above all

bigdreams_littledick said that one of her friends was not “mentally well” and became obsessed with another friend of theirs. They always wanted to go over to their friend’s house, began texting and calling non-stop, and refused to take a hint. In the end, her friend ended up needing to get a restraining order just to protect herself. Clearly, it became hard to have a friend group together with that in place.
Children are innocent

Gorganzoolaz wrote that a friend of theirs was in the business of selling illegal substances. While that is wrong in itself, they found out that their market ended up being young children. It got so bad, that they even had children go back to his place to use the substances, as well. They said it was a red line and they ended up reporting the situation to the police.
A messy situation

pumpa_nickle35 shared that some of her friends “wife swapped” and were swinging at one point. However, the couples were also trying to start families at the same time. Well, one of the wives ended up pregnant, but she wasn’t sure who the father was. Instead of waiting it out to see, her husband demanded she get an abortion. The abortion caused her to spiral and she ended up in a mental health facility for her wellbeing. The couple didn’t make it, either, and ended up moving away.
Abuse is always a breaking point

“A ‘friend’ got arrested for s*xually a**aulting a nonverbal special needs child under 7yrs old, at his job, teaching special needs kids. He tried to enter a plea of insanity, the judge refused to accept it, they are pretty sure its not his first victim. No one in the group saw this coming, I am currently unaware of anyone supporting him now but when he first got arrested some did think it was all just a mistake. He is dead to me,” cuddlycephalopod said.
The truth always comes out

Quills86 confessed that she didn’t believe her friend when she said that the Reddit user’s stepfather had tried to kiss her on a walk. The Reddit user said she ousted her, and even talked badly about her in their friend group. Years later, she feels horrible because she now knows she was being honest—her stepfather tried to do this to other friends of hers, as well. She tried to write to her, but never heard back.
There are better ways to handle this

Warioandwaluigio said that one of her friends at school brought a knife in with them, specifically to “kill” another kid, simply because he found them annoying. Instead of going along with it, the Reddit user reported it so the person could get the help they needed. Their other friends felt that snitching was wrong, but they feel they did the right thing.
Being a true hypocrite

“One of the vocally ‘anti-children during hangouts’ women got pregnant, then brought her infant to every hangout and shushed anyone who spoke above a decibel. We reminded her that she was the one who gave other people sh*t if they even hinted at bringing one of their kids and hangout time was adult time. She started sabotaging the group hangouts so we ousted her,” NoDanaOnlyZuuI wrote.
Grief is too hard

LeeVH1 shared that one of her best friends and her unborn child passed away due to blood clots during her pregnancy. The group of friends, seven of them, have only hung out twice since her passing—once at the funeral and once to see the girl’s mother. The Reddit user shared it is too hard for them all to be together without feeling like a huge piece of them is missing and it’s just too much to deal with.
Mental health matters, too

cyborgcommunist revealed that they were going through a very hard time mentally and went through a downward spiral of depression. They had a pretty hard time socially at this point, and just couldn’t get themselves to attend their best friend’s wedding—despite having helped with the proposal. Instead of understanding, the couple completely blacklisted the Reddit user from their lives and allowed it to tear their whole friend group apart.
Things get messy

Tallproley shared that he and his fiancé chose their best friends, all couples, to be their groomsmen and bridesmaids at a small, courthouse wedding ceremony—Tom and Stacy, and Brad and Kelly. Apparently, one night, Tom and Kelly crossed a line with each other while “snuggling,” and things got out rather quickly. The two had kissed, and fooled around a bit. Everyone decided to forgive each other and move on from the situation. After the wedding, the group pretty much split and didn’t hang out again. Later, it came out that Tom was being charged with domestic abuse against Stacy—who took the kids and fled.
A whole secret life

“I discovered, after a few too many inconsistencies in stories told, that one of the group was wanted by the state police for mail fraud, and had been using an assumed name with us. I wound up getting a copy of her priors along with a mugshot, and sent it out to everyone at once. A few months later we found a story about her arrest,” wrote rekoil.
