Thanksgiving dinner comes with a lot of holiday staples such as turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy, and cranberries, just to name a few. But it turns out some people have a few odd traditions when it comes to food.
One Twitter user asked people to share their weirdest Thanksgiving food traditions and you won’t believe some answers she got. Here’s just a sampling of a few of them. Bon Appetit! Or… not.
1. This Seafoam Salad
Start a new tradition with this unusual concoction of lime jello, a can of pureed pears, and cream cheese. This looks more like a cake, though? Hmm.
2. This Tomato Soup Cake
Speaking of things resembling a cake, I can’t believe somebody actually makes this. Tomato soup cake? Say what? This is the weirdest cake I’ve seen.
3. This Supposed Waldorf Salad
If your family is like this lady’s then a Waldorf salad can pretty much mean just about anything. LOL! But this version doesn’t sound good.
4. Green Bean Casserole
I’ve never had a green bean casserole so I wouldn’t be the best judge of its taste, but I don’t like the sound of it.
5. This Bologna Cake
If you’re not sure what you’re looking at this is apparently a bologna cake with ranch cream cheese icing. Whoa. I’m intrigued. Hee, hee.
6. This Congealed Salad
I had to look up what a “congealed” salad is because I’ve never heard of such a thing. And… now I know to steer clear of it.
7. These ‘Tunies’
I assumed this had something to do with tuna and I was right. But can someone tell me what is shelf-stable jar cheese? Inquiring minds wanna know.
8. This Pretzel Salad
I love pretzels. I just wouldn’t expect to have to eat them topped with jello and cool whip. LOL. Is it an appetizer or dessert?
9. This Pear Salad
Why is every weird thing that’s Thanksgiving-related called a salad? Ha, ha, ha. And I would never eat a pear with mayo. That’s gross.
10. This “Perfection” Salad
Again, another salad dish. From the looks of it, I’m scared to find out what’s actually in this thing. Can you take a guess?
11. This “Dragon Barf”
Okay if the name alone doesn’t put you off, this actually looks and sounds delicious. Especially since I’m a huge fan of pistachios. Yum.
12. This Stuffed Celery
Oh, thinking of this is actually making me a bit hungry now. There’s nothing to hate in this. I love olives, cream cheese, and celery. Yay!
13. This “Gooey”
First of all, I love the name of this dish. LOL. Second of all, seems pretty simple to me. But I don’t think I would eat it.
So it seems to me that most of these Thanksgiving traditions revolve around some kind of weird salad type of thing and it must contain Jell-O.
I dunno why.
