I’m not sure how you grew up, but my parents tried to instill some common sense into me. So that’s how I operate in my daily life. That’s why I tend not to believe everything I hear, especially when it comes from unreliable sources.
But somehow, I see many people still get bamboozled by the oddest things. So here are a few examples of folks believing fairy tales or myths like it’s the real thing.
This Blatant Lie
”I’ll be there in 5 minutes’.”
or
“I’m on my way right now”
Trust me, it never happens. Whenever people say that (and I do this too, haha) they’re just running late and lying through their teeth. Don’t fall for it.
This Pyramid Scheme
“MLMs will make you rich.”
Haha! If I had a dollar for every MLM somebody tried to pull me into, guess what? I would actually be rich. But it wouldn’t have anything to do what that multi-level scheme. No, sir!
This Odd Statement
“We only use 10% of our brain.”
I think if that were true we would all be a vegetable, no? I mean 10% seems a bit low.
Here’s an explanation for this:

This Far-Fetched Truth
“That influencers, celebrities, politicians, and businesses are genuinely interested in you and your lives.”
The truth is, most of them just want to sell you things. So they will try to make you feel like they’re your friend or they care about what you think. Sad but true.
This Religion er Cult
“Scientology.”
“I’ll never forget watching the South Park episode about Scientology and thinking ‘haha yeah this cannot be real, this stuff is way too far-fetched.’ And then I googled it and googled the instruments they use for Scientology and who some well-known names are that were who were part of Scientology and I was completely shocked.”
It baffles me, alright.
This Movie Scene
“That a little bit of chloroform on a rag over someone’s nose and mouth for a few seconds renders them unconscious. Totally not from first-hand experience.”
Only in movies. Am I right? It’s not as easy as that. Not that I know, haha.
This Odd Scenario
“And if you bonk someone over the head they’ll be immediately unconscious, only to wake a few minutes later, pretty much fine.”
And here’s another one that pretty much comes from Hollywood movies. Don’t try this at home.
This Outdated Belief
“That ‘mental illnesses aren’t real.'”
or
“’They’re all in your head’ like yes, that’s the point.”
“My fiancé’s parents are this way and both my fiancé and her eldest brother have secretly been going to therapy behind their backs in order to deal with the trauma of that childhood.”
Oh, my goodness. That’s so sad.
This Politics Trick
“That millionaire politicians will represent the working class.”
Um, heck no! If you actually believe that, you’re part of the problem. That’s why I always vote for the underdog. I’ll trust the person who isn’t a career politician over the other one many times over.
This Hair Myth
“That hair grows back thicker if you shave it.”
“One of the reasons people believe this is because when they are younger they have vellus hair, which gets ‘replaced’ by normal hair. Shaving makes people think it’s getting thicker but it’s really hair they were going to get anyway growing in.”

This Work Lie
“HR is there for the employees’ benefit/protection.”
Do you know why they’re really there? To protect the company’s business so they don’t get sued. That’s pretty much all. I’ve never had an HR person actually help me with anything so I speak from experience.
This Milk Idea
“I’m so glad we have brown cows, otherwise there wouldn’t be any chocolate milk.”
Haha! Did you believe that as a kid? Well, at least I hope you don’t still believe that. But, according to a survey, seven percent of American adults believe chocolate milk comes from brown cows — that’s over 16 million people!
This Ridiculous Thought
“I still can’t get past how many people think the earth is flat. How. Like actually howwwww do you think that?”
“It’s not even how, but why. What leads you to the conclusion that it’s all just a big conspiracy, why would that conspiracy even exist?”
I dunno, why?
This Weight Loss Fad
“That taking a pill will somehow magically make them lose 50 lbs.”
Oh, if only it were that easy. Am I right? Sadly, to lose weight, you need to do some hard work. And that work involves a lot more than swallowing a pill, my friend. There are no shortcuts in life. At least not in this instance.
This Bad Strategy
“That legally banning something fixes the underlying problem.”
“Yeah, you’d think the Prohibition would have shown them that it doesn’t. If anything, it makes it worse. When you ban something, you lose the ability to regulate it.”
True dat!
These Charlatans
“Megachurches.”
“As a Christian myself, I can confirm that Kenneth Copeland and most Televangelists are only there for the money.”
Honestly, it always baffles me when I watch those televangelists that there are people out there that believe this BS! It’s actually pretty sad.
This Dumb Belief
“That they’ll somehow be rewarded with a fictional everlasting blissful after-life even though they are a [expletive] person.”
How you are in life is how you will end up wherever you go afterward. So if you’re not a good person now, you’ll never be. Period. End of story.
