Internet challenges that don’t involve eating detergent are generally benign enough, but this one might just send you around the bend.
You don’t need anything more than your eyes, but don’t be surprised if you’re not up to the task. If anything, you’re in good company, because this is a profoundly weird phenomenon.
The internet often spews up the weird, the strange, the bizarre, the oddities that capture our attention.

Let’s face it, those things are fascinating because they have an air of mystery. But seldom do we see seemingly normal things so cloaked in mystery — until now.
Twitter user @melip0ne posed a challenge to the world, posting this pic with a caption asking anybody and everybody out there to do one, simple thing: “Name one thing in this photo.”
And considering how many of us have seen a similar arrangement of objects in our own homes, piled up in a spare room where all the clutter gets put on cleaning days, it doesn’t seem like a huge challenge.
But then, look closer. And look again. Move your eyes around from one object to the next. With some, it’s hard to even know where an object begins and ends. You can’t even be sure that you’re looking at what you think you’re looking at. Instead of anything becoming clearer, it all gets blurrier.
That sure looks like a display of necklaces on the left.

But are they? Or are they earrings? Is it even jewelry at all, or maybe butterflies pinned to a board? At least one looks like it has been put in a clear bag — or perhaps wrapped with gauzy ribbon.
Is that a fur stole on the bottom right? Or maybe it’s a stuffed animal? Who even knows? I’ve spent the past ten minutes staring at this thing and I can’t figure it out for sure.
Folks on Twitter are just as baffled.
Genuinely, nobody out there can, with any certainty name even one object in the image. It’s as remarkable as it is maddening, the kind of quiet horror that gathers cobwebs in your mind and drives you off the deep end without you even realizing it.
You can’t even be sure of the backdrop.
One person tried naming the wall as an object in the pic, which the poster questioned — and, frustratingly, now I’m questioning whether the stuff is even up against a wall or if there’s a sheet there, or is it on a bed or what.
Those clever folks who tried a Google Image Search came up empty.
And wow, is that ever rare. What circle of hell must this image have been dragged up from that it doesn’t even exist in the all-knowing Google’s databases?
There’s only one possibility here that makes any sense.
And it’s that @melip0ne has been cursed, and is sharing that curse around via social media, in a way that Hollywood is about to mine for millions of dollars. We are all cursed now, thanks to this seemingly harmless image, just like opening up the wrong attachment in a sketchy email.
Unless…do you see something?
