One family’s Corona-themed birthday party for their 1-year-old after their original party had to be cancelled has been bringing smiles to people’s faces across the world.
Now is not the best time to be having a birthday party.

Sadly, for people with birthdays happening during this tumultuous period, there is very little partying to be actually done due to the importance of maintaining appropriate social distancing.
Due to this, one little guy sadly had to have his birthday bash canceled.
Little Devin’s 1st birthday party was sadly cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Abbey Furlong, Devin’s mother, had been busy planning a massive party for Devin’s first birthday earlier this month.
However, due to the coronavirus pandemic, the 80-person circus-themed party that she had planned couldn’t go ahead.
I wish someone would throw me a circus-themed party when all this is over… just saying.
It had killed Abbey to cancel the party.

Apparently, Abbey loves planning parties, and it had killed her to cancel the initial circus-themed party. Abbey explained:
“The original plan was not beer-themed for a 1-year-old. I put A LOT of time and effort into making events perfect. It killed me to cancel it,” Abbey told CafeMom .
So, in a moment of inspiration, Abbey decided to throw a Corona-themed party.

“I thought I still had to do something for his birthday, even if it was just us,” Abbey went on to say.
She also went on to explain that the idea of having it Corona-themed just came to her in an instant while she was sat at home having a glass of wine: “Corona theme it is! When life hands you limes, stick them in your beer!”
Thankfully, the family were already well stocked for such an event!

One thing is for sure during these times, people are pretty well stocked up on beer and other alcoholic drinks ⏤ and this household was no exception as they had plenty of Corona already in!
However, there was quite a bit of DIY involved as Abbey also used a Cricut machine to help create some of the other effects for the party such as banners.
Finally, Abbey also managed to recruit one of her friends to make the shirts, which explains why they had so many Corona t-shirts to hand!
Another of Abbey’s friends was called upon to provide the cake.

The beer-themed cake was a resounding hit at the party! Abbey explained, “The best part about the beer cake is I’ve actually enjoyed it after the party. Unlike most party decor that gets wasted”.
There was no beer in the actual cake though, so don’t worry, Devin wasn’t getting drunk!
Sadly, Devin’s grandmother could not attend the party.

Due to the current lockdown situation, Devin’s grandmother could not attend her grandson’s first birthday party. However, she did drive passed and stood in the driveway holding a “Happy Birthday!” sign for little Devin.
Furlong’s father was isolating with the family. however, so little Devin was able to spend the day with one of his grandparents.
Abbey uploaded the images of Devin’s party to Facebook where they exploded across the internet.

Abbey uploaded the arty pics to Facebook earlier this month writing, “Ain’t no quarantine gonna stop us from celebrating! This may be the smallest party I’ve ever thrown, but it’ll definitely be the most memorable!”
And it will certainly be memorable to a lot of people it seems, as the post has since received over 30, 000 shares and over 7, 000 likes.
Thousands of people also took to the comments to share their love for little Devin’s party.

Many people took to the comments of Abbey’s post to say how wonderful an idea the party was, as well as to thank the family for providing a ray of sunshine at this difficult time. With people writing the likes of:
“This is awesome, idea for my 33rd in a couple weeks!”
“This is so cool! The memories you will have for his 1st birthday, priceless. Awesome job mom!”
“Now you really took the sour and the bitter and turned it in to the sweet!!! Absolutely awesome!!!”
Hopefully, the family will cherish these wonderful memories for the rest of their lives!

It can feel like there is little to be celebrating at the moment; however, this wonderful story goes to show that you can still make the most of your time while in self-isolation if you put your mind to it. And while something like this may seem like a lot of work, you can make your day brighter, and that of someone else, simply by calling a relative for a catch-up and to make sure that they are doing well.
