As much as you might love your family, you might not want to be around them all that much. Some family members aren’t good people, and that makes them very difficult to trust.
A teen on Reddit opened up about how her older sister had a much different childhood than her own. As a result, the sister is not good with money and has a tendency to steal things from others. While the teen, who goes by Spirited_Boat_6380, is away at school, she worries that he sister will go into her room and steal her things.
This ended up happening with the Redditor’s car, which prompted her to confront her parents about it. But now, the family is treating the teen as a villain for ruining a family vacation. She took to the AITA community to see if she was wrong .
OP Posted Her Story.
OP And Her Sister Have A Large Age Gap.
OP shares that she is 17, while her sister is 29. The sister did not have a good childhood and is now unable to hold a job. She also tends to steal things. The sister has kids of her own who live with OP and her parents.
OP’s sister moved back in after breaking up with her boyfriend. OP is now worried that the sister will go into her room and steal her things, and her parents refused to install a lock on her door. Her fears came true one day while she was at school. She’d come home to find her car completely trashed and learned that her sister took the spare keys out of her room. OP talked with her grandparents, who helped her get the car in the first place, and they told her to file a police report.
OP gave her parents an ultimatum between the police report and replacing the car. The parents replaced the car but used a Disney vacation fund to do so. Now, OP’s parents and nieces are angry with her for “ruining” the trip.
OP updated the post to let everyone know that her mom had installed a deadbolt on her door.
The Comment Section Insists That It Wasn’t OP’s Fault.
As they say, “Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.”
Commenters Blame The Parents And Sister.
The sister is the one at fault, but the parents enable her behavior. Many believe that the parents are failing both their kids, as well as their grandkids.
They Also Worry For OP.
Hopefully, she can get out of that house soon.
