Hello Peaky Blinders fans! (AKA, everyone?)
As I’m sure you’re already well-aware of and obsessing over, the season six opening scene was just revealed, and considering how season five wrapped up, this is a seriously big deal!
If the anticipation for season six wasn’t already sky-high, it’s definitely going to be after you see this…
Mondays suck. But here’s some good news: *Peaky Blinders* just revealed the opening scene of season six. I am screaming.
I have literally been counting down the days until the new season comes out.
So, let’s recap. I think we could all use a reminder of how season five went down before we dive into season six, amirite?

SPOILERS AHEAD .
First of all, we saw how the financial crash of 1929 affected the world, and the *Peaky Blinders* themselves, of course.
Ultimately, Tommy devised a plan to kill off his fascist political enemy, Oswald Mosley — who is basically Hitler btw — but unfortunately, things backfired.
First, Tommy helped free an old war-friend and expert sniper, Barney, from a psychiatric asylum in order to get the perfect shot on Oswald at one of his rallies.
And while the plan was nearly executed perfectly, things went awry when the Shelby clan was betrayed by who we’re led to believe was one of their employees, Billy Grade.
So, at the very last minute, instead of sniping Oswald, Barney and Aberama Gold are taken out by masked assasins.
And even though we’re made to believe that it was probably Billy who compromised their position to the enemy, Tommy has suspicions that Finn has been conspiring against him.
The final scene shows Tommy, clearly at the end of his rope, walking out into a misty field, screaming, kneeling to the ground, and pointing a gun to his own head.
It’s probably safe to assume that he did not end up committing suicide. But it was an incredible cliff-hanger, nonetheless.
Okay, now let’s get into the season six teaser.
According to the show’s director, season six is going to pick up exactly where season five left off; with Tommy, kneeling in a misty field, with a gun pointed to his head.
“It picks up directly. So, the very first image you will see will be back in that field… Tommy, with a gun to his head,” the director told *Digital Spy*.
“Then, we will move on from there, we resolve that amazing moment… it’s great.”
In an interview with *LADbible*, Cillian Murphy, who plays Tommy Shelby, spoke about his character’s development, and how exhausting it is at times to step into the mind of such a “ruthless and relentless” character.
“It’s an absolute gift, the character,” he said .
“I never anticipated having the opportunity to play the character for this length of time,” he continued.
“And to have the privilege of working on such great material, for people to have so much affection for the show, for it to have such reach, culturally and everything else. “
“I love it. I mean, it’s exhausting, but I would never moan about it because it’s an actor’s dream really,” he continued.
“He’s clearly a man who’s suffered serious trauma “.

“And it’s talked about, him being in the trenches in France in World War One, you know he was tunneler, which is the worst possible job you could have.”
“Clearly he’s never dealt with these things, clearly most of the men that were spat out of that conflict were now just told to get on with their lives,” he said.
He explained that he believes Tommy’s past traumas have manifested into an aggressive sort of ambition.
“So I think with Tommy it manifested itself with ruthless and relentless ambition,” he said .
“But I don’t think he ever spent time trying to fix himself,” he went on.
“And I think the scars of that, the damage that has been inflicted on him by others and by himself is coming home to roost .”
So, there you have it! We can expect the opening scene of season six to be Tommy resolving the final scene of season five.
I think that’s the perfect way to start things off — by giving fans some closure on what we last saw.
