One nurse has gone viral across social media after her touching reunion with a baby she delivered 30 years prior was shared online.
Surprise reunions can happen in the strangest of places.

As we go through life, our lives intersect with countless others, even if just for a fleeting moment.
However, sometimes people from our past can come back in the most unexpected moments.
For Renata Freydin and David Caldwell, one of these magical moments occurred at the birth of their first child.

Baby Zayne Caldwell was born in New Brunswick, New Jersey on January 30, much to the surprise of Zayne’s parents.
Little Zayne was born a shocking 10 weeks before his predicted due date.
The birth “came out of nowhere” according to Zayne’s mother.

Zayne’s mother, Renata Freydin, explained, “It came out of nowhere and I just started having contractions. He wasn’t having any of it. He wanted to come out,” she told CNN .
Renata Freydin and David Caldwell quickly rushed to hospital.

The couple rushed to hospital as soon as Renata began experiencing contractions.
Zayne was admitted to The Children’s Hospital at Saint Peter’s University Hospital, which was the same hospital that David was born, also prematurely, 30 years earlier.
In the days that followed, David dug out his own baby photos to see how much his son resembled him.

David uncovered the above photo from his past, which shows him as a baby with the nurse who looked after him. Renata uploaded the image to Facebook, writing alongside the image:
“So as many of you may know, our son was born 10 weeks early at St. Peters hospital and has been in the NICU ever since (he’s doing amazing btw!). What some of you may not know is that his father (my amazing fiancee) was also born about 6 weeks early at the same hospital! Last Sunday, he dug out his baby book to show me. As I was looking through, I came across a picture of him as a baby and a lady holding him. I knew that lady!”
Renata then uploaded this image of Zayne with one of his nurses.

Yes, it was the same nurse! Renata went on to say:
“Well, the reason I know her is because I swore she was the nurse that had been taking care of our baby boy for the past three days! David didn’t believe me. We brought the picture to the hospital where 3 other nurses confirmed it was her! Yesterday (Valentine’s Day) she was back at work and taking care of our little nugget again so we had to recreate the picture!”
The heartwarming story has since gone viral.

Renata’s Facebook post has since been shared over 67, 000 times, and has received thousands of touching comments, with people writing the likes of:
“Wonderful story. I have full respect for NICU nurses. I worked in cardiac ICU but babies would scarce me to death. Hats off to them.”
“Aww, wow, what an amazing story. Best wishes and a speedy recovery to you.”
“So beautiful! Thanks for sharing – so great to have such an expert still giving bedside care!”
The family will doubtless cherish these memories for the rest of their lives.

Renata also explained how much the chance meeting with nurse Lissa had meant to the family during this difficult time, writing, “The past 2 weeks have been filled with worries and uncertainty but we can breathe easy knowing my lil nuggets nurse is the same one that helped the man I love when he was in the same situation.”
Having a baby born prematurely can be an incredibly stressful time for families. Hopefully, baby Zayne’s condition will continue to improve with the incredible love of Lissa and his devoted parents surrounding him.
