You’ve no doubt heard that yesterday, Russian forces officially began a full-scale attack on Ukraine.
As multiple nations throughout the world (including the United States, the United Kingdom and the members of the European Union) impose sanctions on Russia for this operation, The Guardian reported that fighting has now reached Ukraine’s capital of Kyiv, which started to see mass evacuations by February 24.

And while we’ve already heard stories of some courageous individuals making their own differences in the troubled nation, it can be easy for average citizens everywhere to feel powerless in the wake of a conflict that continues despite widespread condemnation throughout the world, including within Russia .
However, to do so is to underestimate what we can all accomplish if we pool our resources together and today, we’re here to offer some ideas as to where to direct those resources.
UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR)
This organization established by the United Nations aims to provide emergency aid to citizens and families affected by conflict throughout the world, but recent events have compelled the agency to direct its efforts towards Ukraine.
As UNHCR stated in a press release, “UNHCR is working with the authorities, UN and other partners in Ukraine and is ready to provide humanitarian assistance wherever necessary and possible.”

Razom for Ukraine
According to Forbes , this volunteer organization was established after Russian forces annexed Crimea in 2014 and is named after the Ukrainian word for “together.”
Its members are dedicated to providing relief for soldiers and doctors on Ukraine’s front lines and can be supported here .
Voices Of Children
As NPR reported , this charity is based in Ukraine and is dedicated to providing psychological help for children who are affected by war.
Their means for doing this include art therapy, mobile psychology units, video storytelling and direct one-on-one help for families.

Come Back Alive
As was the case for Razom, this soldier-focused non-governmental organization began in 2014, but was initially dedicated to providing bulletproof vests.
According to Forbes , its mission has since expanded to assist training Ukrainian soldiers as well as providing them with supplies and psychological relief.
The NGO was recently endorsed by The Kyiv Independent and can be supported here .
Nova Ukraine
As Forbes outlined, this organization is based in the United States, but works closely with Ukrainian activists and other organizations to provide humanitarian aid.
They can be supported monetarily here , but they’re also known to accept donations of children’s clothing (particularly shoes), bedding, toiletries, and wheelchairs to name a few.
