A recent video, posted to TikTok by user fayymarie11 was the subject of a lot of debate, after the video revealed that her new boss texted her in the middle of the night.
The video is short and simple.

And yet that’s what makes it so effective.
Titled “Uhm what,” the video features the woman looking exasperated. The caption on the video reads: “Got offered a good job. I accepted. The owner messages me at 1am this morning ‘Hey you, what’s up.'”
And of course, the comments came flooding in.
People reacted in a bunch of different ways, from being empathetic and apologetic, to confused, to even cracking jokes.
But it was pretty clear no one really knew what was going on.
Some thought it was a case of mistaken identity.
“Being that I have sent text to wrong people more than I’d like to admit, did you verify the text was for you?” one user responded.
Other people, though, took the TikToker’s side.
“Don’t do it. I promise it will get worse once he crossed the boundaries of boss/employee respect,” another user commented.
Another commenter shared a similar experience of her own.
“First day on the job, my boss says to me I hired you because you had the most beautiful hair ended with a lawsuit and settlement,” she said.
And of course, some comedians out there took the chance to lighten the mood.
One comment read, “Maybe the job started at midnight and you were late for the first day.” And you know what? It could totally be possible, too.
The truth is, no one really knows what was going on.
The TikTok leaves a lot of detail out, and the original poster doesn’t offer any follow up. Any of these commenters could be right about what went on, or none of them are.
But one thing was clear.
Everyone who watched and commented on the TikTok interpreted it in a different way. And of course, they all had to debate on who was right.
It looks like we’ll never know, though.
It’s amazing how a 15-second clip can start so much debate, especially since it provides so little detail on the situation.
