If you spotted a neighborhood kid whipping around your driveway with his bicycle everyday, you’d probably experience one of two reactions: anger or amusement.
Judging from my own experience with neighbors, I think it’s safe to say the more impatient people on the block wouldn’t take too kindly to their driveway becoming a playground for other people’s kids. And I’m sure their parents would end up on the receiving end of some very frustrated phone calls.

But when one man spotted a little boy repeatedly returning to his own property to ride a bike, he decided to take matters into his own hands and do something about it.
It all began earlier this summer when the unidentified man started getting alerts from his driveway security camera every night.
Upon inspecting the footage, he found that the alerts were being triggered by a little boy who lived on that same street, using the man’s flat driveway as a place to ride his bike.
Although he admitted he was initially annoyed by the repeated bicycle rides, the man said he soon looked forward to getting the alerts.
“It is always this same kid, just tearing it up on the flat concrete,” he explained in a YouTube video , showing the boy riding through his driveway, most often whenever he and his mom passed the house while walking their dog in the evenings.
“Something needed to be done,” the man said.
Rather than confront the boy and his mom about the bicycle riding, the man decided to do something amazing instead.
“I built him a racetrack!” he revealed in the video.
After some encouragement from his wife, he started going outside to his driveway and using sidewalk chalk to carefully draw out a 2D track for the boy to follow on his bicycle. And if it happens to rain, he simply draws a new one!
The first night the track showed up, the boy initially seemed confused to find the usually-empty driveway was now decorated with chalk.
But with a little encouragement from his mom, he realized someone had actually drawn him a track, and he can be seen in the security footage excitedly setting out to follow it.
The chalk tracks have started to get more and more elaborate as summer has gone on.
But you can bet the little boy is up for the challenge, always prepared to expertly maneuver his way through the tracks like a pro!
The man has even started writing out little encouragements along the path, including the words “for the win!” at the finish line.
And it’s not just the little boy enjoying the delightful racetracks, either! The whole neighborhood has been getting in on the fun!
The man’s security camera has caught dozens of people weaving their way along the chalked path, including a woman with a stroller, more children on bicycles, and even some cycling adults, too!

In the video’s description, he expressed gratitude for the little boy who started all this. While he could have been a grumpy neighbor and told the boy to stay off his driveway, he decided to go the wholesome route instead.
And as he explained, “What transpired has turned into the best part of an otherwise dreary pandemic summer.”
