A mother has been receiving lots of praise online after her gay son shared the story of how she perfectly shut down a family “meeting” that had been planned to discuss his sexuality.
Cydney Prescott wrote about his mom’s fierce love for him on Twitter where their story quickly went viral, warming the hearts of thousands of users and giving us exactly the kind of feel-good story we all need to hear about sometimes.
During the Christmas season last year, Cydney was shocked to hear about the “meeting” some of his extended family had planned.

In his Twitter post , he explains that the gathering of relatives was intended for the sole purpose of discussing Cydney’s sexuality.
What they planned on doing after the meeting with that information isn’t clear, but thankfully they never even had the chance to chat, thanks to Cydney’s passionate mom.
After learning what her relatives had planned, his mom apparently put a stop to their homophobic agenda and effectively “cleared the mf’n room.”
“IDGAF how none of y’all feel,” Cydney quoted his mom as saying online, “HE’S MINE and if you don’t want to deal with him, f*** you cuz [ sic ] you don’t have to. BUT I KNOW none of you will have s*** to say to me about it!”
All that’s missing here is a perfectly-timed mic drop.
Cydney’s post quickly went viral, racking up nearly 300,000 likes and more than 30,000 retweets.
In the comments, one branded his mother a “true queen” while another declared she’s officially graduated from “mom” to “Mom Goddess, Warrior of Righteousness”.
“Moms,” this person wrote. “Don’t mess with them when it comes to their babies.”
After receiving so much love from strangers online, Cydney decided his mom deserved to see all the new fans she had acquired from the post.
In a screenshot of a text conversation between himself and his mom, Cydney showed her reacting to the news of her viral fame with nothing but love for her supporters.
She even asked her son to pass along more photos of things people had been saying on the post, and he definitely delivered.
Cydney later sat down to film a YouTube video with his mom where they discussed the viral tweet, and her experience raising a gay son.
She reveals she knew Cydney was gay as early as when he was in kindergarten and her reaction as being, “It is what it is.”
“You’re still my child,” she says in the clip . “I had you, I gave birth to you. My thing is, I’m going to love you no matter what you turn out to be.”
“Just because you turned out gay doesn’t mean I’m going to stop loving you.”
