One mom decided to come up with a brilliant solution to combat her kids constantly begging her for snacks and food.
If there’s one way to get kids to stay off your back, it’s making them completely and utterly self-sufficient. But, how can a parent make sure their kid does it all on their own?
Sarah Balsdon of Northumberland, U.K. said her kids were constantly sneaking snacks upstairs despite her efforts to make lunches and prepare food for them.
She wanted to find a way to combat the sneaking around and also make sure they are maintaining some sort of healthy regimens. She figured out a pretty funny, yet brilliant way to do so.
It’s pretty simple, but also incredible.
Balsdon decided that the best way to combat her four children constantly tugging at her pants was to install a vending machine in her own home. Amazing, right?
It may sound crazy, but it is flawlessly effective when it comes down to it.
Balsdon found a vending machine on Facebook Marketplace and bought it for her house. It’s an actual, real, working vending machine. Now, the kids need actual money to get their snacks.
She said it’s curbed her kids sneaking around for food.
She wrote on Facebook :
“Let’s see if they can sneak sweets and treats now! So sick of the arguments about unhealthy snacks (esp with lockdown) so I have bought a vending machine! If they want sweets they can do things (chores, school work etc) to earn money for them.”
Balsdon said it’s taught her kids more than one lesson.
In fact, her kids are not only learning about responsibility, but also about money. They now know that if they want something, they have to work for it. Also, they have to save their money to get it.
All in all, it seems like a quarantine win for this mom.
What kid doesn’t want a full-functioning vending machine in their own home? I totally wish I had one in my house as a kid. So much fun!
