Many people are really stepping in where needed to help during the pandemic. For example, many retired doctors and nurses are returning to use their skills and experience to help aid in the efforts.
Miss England Dr. Bhasha Mukherjee is one of those doctors who is coming back from her charity work to help.
Miss England Dr. Bhasha Mukherjee will be trading in her crown for scrubs to help fight on the front lines in the pandemic.
According to CNN , she made the decision while doing charity work in India.
She expressed that it didn’t feel right to wear her crown while her colleagues and community needed help.
She told CNN , “I wanted to come back home. I wanted to come and go straight to work.”
“I felt a sense of this is what I’d got this degree for and what better time to be part of this particular sector than now.”
Before putting her junior doctor status on pause, Bhasha had worked at Pilgrim Hospital in eastern England as in respiratory medicine.
So, when COVID-19 began worsening in England, she returned from India back to the hospital to use her experience and skills to help.
“There’s no better time for me to be Miss England and helping England at a time of need,” she continued.
Bhasha has to self-isolate for about two weeks after returning from India, and then she’ll be ready to suit up and help.
She really is proving that she deserved the title!
