Matthew McConaughey is known for being one of the most recognizable faces in Hollywood. While I know his list of “noteworthy” movies is long, all I care about are his roles in How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days and Magic Mike .
He’s also known for driving a Lincoln.
What the 51-year-old is not known for is being overly political, so when he spoke out against the “illiberal left” recently, it took many fans by surprise.
On a recent episode of Russell Brand’s unfortunately named podcast “Under the Skin”, the actor got candid about the current political divide.

“Let’s get aggressively centric. I dare you,” Matthew stated .
“There are a lot (of people) on that illiberal left that absolutely condescend, patronize, and are arrogant towards that other 50 percent.”
“Many people, I’m sure you saw it, in our industry when Trump was voted in four years ago, they were in denial that it was real. Some of them were in absolute denial,” the 51-year-old continued.
“It looks like Biden’s our guy. Now you’ve got the right that’s in denial, because their side has fake news.”
“And I understand, they’ve been fed fake news. No one knows what the h**l to believe, right? So they’re putting down their last bastion of defense.”

Matthew continued, advocating for a middle-of-the-road approach since the “other two sides of the political aisle are so far apart.”
The actor explained that the offended conservative parties “look at us in Hollywood going, ‘Another celebrity over there, West Coasters and the elites in the northeast.’ “
“The left will have to understand the science of ‘meet you in the middle.'” he concluded.
