Essential worker. A term that, before the pandemic, many of us never used, or simply took for granted. In an effort to reduce human interaction to slow the spread of COVID-19, governments began defining what is and what isn’t “essential” for human survival. You may be surprised to know the list goes on and on, and there are many who fight on the front lines, facing the disease head-on, risking their own lives everyday.
They really are our heroes, and Mattel is honoring them in a huge way.
Leave it to toy maker Mattel to transform front line workers into superhero action figures.

The company is releasing a new #ThankYouHeroes line that features an array of essential worker figures to say thank you to all the front line heroes.
They’re hitting all age groups, like their Fisher Price Little People Community Champions set that features a doctor, a nurse, an emergency medical technician, a delivery driver, and a grocery store worker.
They also have larger action figures that imagines essential workers as superheroes straight out of a comic.

So far, they’re highlighting nurses, doctors, EMTs, and delivery drivers.
There are 16 action figures altogether, with four different figures per job title.

All of the accessories can be removed so that each figure can really come to life!
What’s even more great is from now until May 31, $15 from each online action figure sale will be donated to Mattel’s #FirstRespondersFirst fund, which provides supplies, equipment, and resources for frontline healthcare workers and their families.

The figures won’t actually be ready to ship until December 31, 2020, but you can pre-order them now for $20 each.
