As scary as it is to think about, it can take a surprisingly short time for a day to turn disastrous. For instance, it takes less than a second for a gun to fire, but in that time, one person can become a murderer while another becomes a memory.
While it’s hard to tell exactly how one Georgia reporter was feeling before her fateful encounter with a runner participating in the Savannah Bridge Run, the difference between how the day went for her before and after that moment was still obvious.
And now, the man responsible is discovering exactly what kind of consequences result from his actions.
On December 7, Alex Bozarjian of WSAV was doing a live report from the Savannah Bridge Run in Georgia.
As we can see from this clip that has since gone viral, a runner crosses behind her during her report and slaps her buttocks, clearly stunning Bozarjian.
Shortly after the incident, Bozarjian addressed a tweet “to the man who smacked my butt on live TV this morning.”

She then made the statement quoted in the artwork shown here. She also filed a report with the Savannah Police Department.
While officers investigated the matter, others identified the man responsible as 43-year-old Tommy Callaway.

As Buzzfeed News reported , he was subsequently banned from future racing events by the Savannah Sports Council and barred from his position as a leader in the Boy Scouts of America.
He has since apologized on WSAV, saying, “It was an awful act and an awful mistake. I am not that person that people are portraying me as. I make mistakes, I’m not perfect and I’m asking for forgiveness and to accept my apology.”
On Friday evening, Callaway turned himself in to the Savannah Police Department.

According to Buzzfeed News , he now faces a charge of sexual battery, which is punishable by up to a year in county jail.
While Callaway awaits his day in court, he has been released on a $1,300 bond.
Bozarjian’s lawyer, Gloria Allred, said her client is glad that police are taking the matter seriously.

As Allred went on to say, “If this case goes to trial, she will be a witness. For that reason, she will have no further comment until the case concludes, but she does hope that there will be a just result.”
