For most people, buying their dream house is usually the typical route for becoming a homeowner. On the other hand, those who are more the creative type oftentimes opt for constructing a home from scratch. But, what if you wanted to design a truly unique home using unusual materials?
This is exactly what Will Breaux did using shipping containers stacked together to build his dream house.
Originally Will Breaux wanted to build a three-story townhouse.

However, that project fell through when the designers failed to create what he really wanted the house to look like.
So he set out to construct a shipping container house instead.

He used 11 containers piled on top of each other to create a three-story house, complete with a rooftop deck.
Will chose shipping containers for a specific reason.

They’re very strong in structure, fireproof, long-lasting, hurricane resistant, and with common characteristics, which makes them perfect construction material.
Even though Will didn’t have any professional building experience, he still decided to go ahead with the project.

In addition to a ton of research, he also consulted a building engineer.
The first step was to create a 3D sketch of the house and figure out exactly how it was going to be constructed.

Then the real work got started.
In the end, he became a proud owner of an impressive 2,500 square foot house.

He was finally able to have all the components he really wanted to have.
The house is almost completely finished and furnished to Will’s liking.

It comes with all the amenities that a typical house would have. Judging from the pictures, it looks fabulous.
However, Will advises that even though this project is totally doable, you must enlist the help of professionals to navigate all the fine details of constructing it properly.

An expert is a must for this project!
Wow, I have to say from the outside this house isn’t that much to look at.

But when you step foot inside it’s definitely full of comfort and relaxing vibes.
I have to say that if I drove by this property, I wouldn’t have guessed that it’s like this inside.

It looks like no amount of detail was spared here.
Just check out this modern and spacious kitchenette.

This is bigger and roomier than my own kitchen. I’m so jealous! And I really love the flooring as well.
This is quite the shower construction.

I kinda like the old-school features. It gives it that industrial feel if that’s what you’re into.
Overall I think while the outside looks like, well, shipping containers, the inside proves these can make a cozy home.

This place is definitely rocking. What a cool dwelling to hang out in!
Are you a fan of projects like this?
Is this something you would consider? I think it’s worth the effort to design a place you can truly call your own.
