There are few things in life more frustrating than minding your own business only to end up walking into an argument with somebody.
Whether it’s because they didn’t like what you were wearing or they just decided you’re their obsession for the day, we can sometimes find that we just can’t win when we want to be left alone.
But while these situations can sometimes give us some interesting stories , we’re more likely to find that they just give us a moment in life that we’d prefer to skip.
And in the case of one man, it seemed to give him a moral dilemma.
After a long shift of packing and shipping, a man found himself exhausted in a subway station while trying to get home.

As he explained in a Reddit post , that meant that the bench he found at his platform was clearly a sight for sore eyes.
It was the only seat in the area but it also allowed for enough distance between him and the woman who was already sitting there that social distancing was achieved between them.
However, the man would soon learn that this didn’t make much of a difference as he soon heard the woman ask him if he minds.

And when he asked what she meant, she told him that she wanted him to move somewhere else because she wasn’t comfortable being close to him and they were the only two on the platform.
To this, he replied that he wouldn’t bother her but that he also wouldn’t move as he was tired from work.
But this apparently wasn’t an acceptable answer to her as she said it wouldn’t kill him to move somewhere else because the train would be along in 15 minutes.

As he put it, “This lady not letting it go, I promise I won’t bother her.”
He also said that he hadn’t said anything to her or paid her much attention at all before this exchange. Once he refused yet again, he put his headphones back in and stared at his phone before she eventually got up and walked to the other side of the platform while muttering expletives.
While the man could appreciate why the woman would feel uncomfortable about being alone at night with a strange man, he felt conflicted because he really was that tired and wasn’t doing anything to provoke her.
And as far as the Reddit community was concerned, he had nothing to apologize for because they didn’t feel her stated problem matched her actions.
As one commenter said , “If she didn’t feel safe, she shouldn’t have even spoken to you. She should simply have walked away without a backward glance and that would have been it.”
Another person seemed just as baffled, saying , “This is what makes it so weird. I would never ever start a conversion like this with someone I felt was going to hurt me.”
That confusion added to the fact that he was using the only seat in the area for its intended purpose led just about everyone to say he wasn’t in the wrong.
