Considering how long, arduous, and desperate job searching can be, it always stings when it becomes clear that a potential employer isn’t interested in you.
And while you could argue that an outright rejection is better than total silence on their end, it hurts even harder when they make it obvious that you’re being rejected for a petty reason or they do so in a r**e and unprofessional way.
But while it’s obviously bad when someone intends to send a rejection in this way, it becomes pretty awkward for both parties when it’s clear that they never meant for the candidate to see how the sausages behind that rejection were made.
And as one man’s story illustrates, it doesn’t hurt any less to see that happen even when there’s nothing overly mean in that suddenly public chat.
Be advised that a video featured in this article contains explicit language
On March 15, a man named Alexander uploaded a TikTok that shared an email he had received from a coffee company’s HR department.
But as we can see here, it seems he was accidentally copied on this email as it just consisted of two employees discussing why they didn’t want to hire him.
This moment was obviously awkward and disheartening for him, but it certainly made his audience curious.
So curious, in fact, that they apparently dug into his social media posts that explained the company’s reasoning.

As he explained in a follow-up video , the company characterized him as missing a job interview with no explanation, but he said that didn’t tell anywhere near the whole story.
He also said that marked the second of three times he applied to that company.
Indeed, he found that implication frustrating because the incident in question came at a time when he was in a desperate financial situation.

So as he said, that meant he would have gladly agreed to any interview time they suggested.
And as he showed in a screenshot of his conversations with a recruiter, that incident from December of 2021 stalled after he was promised some options for interview times.

We can see that his response acknowledging that promise was delivered, but nobody ever actually sent him those times. And now that this latest email mishap has occurred, he believes he knows what happened.
As Alexander put it, “This email proved to me that they had thought they sent me interview times and they had not. It was not my fault that I didn’t show up for an interview.”

Another question his followers had was whether he responded to the wayward email.
He initially just replied with “ouch.” But after he showed and told the same side of the story he shared with us, the company has apparently made no further attempt to communicate with him.
But ultimately, it seems he considers this rejection as a blessing in disguise since his experiences with this company have given him the impression that they’re disorganized.
However, he has also released yet another follow-up video sharing the consequences of spilling the beans he did in the first follow-up.
