Now this is beautiful news. Beauty industry giant L’Oréal has joined the more than 60 organizations that are a part of the U.S. Plastics Pact, and people are celebrating.
The beauty industry has depended on plastics for years, which has led to more waste production and ecological threats.
So, L’Oréal is ditching the plastics and has committed to saving the planet in a few key ways.
They’re developing alternative approaches to how they use plastics.
According to a press release from L’Oréal USA, the U.S. Plastics Pact network is seeking to find a new way to use, reuse, and design plastic cosmetic products.

“L’Oréal is committed to doing our part to protect the planet from the global climate crisis we are facing, and we are transforming our business to do so,” said Danielle Azoulay, L’Oréal USA’s head of corporate social responsibility and sustainability.
They’re taking the three Rs very seriously.
By 2025, they are aiming to ensure all plastic packaging is 100-percent reusable, recyclable, or compostable.
The idea is to move toward recycling or composting 50 percent of plastic packaging, and ensuring the average recycled content or bio-based content in plastic packaging will be 30 percent.
L’Oréal is dedicated to creating a better, more inclusive future.
This year, the company also launched L’Oréal for the Future, a sustainability initiative for 2030.
This initiative aims to create a business model that “respects planetary boundaries and reinforces its commitments to both sustainability and inclusion around the world.”
L’Oréal customers can rest easy knowing that their favorite beauty products won’t be contributing to waste.
There is no doubt that L’Oréal’s ambitious goal to have 100-percent sustainable packaging by 2025 is impressive.
