Most of us have an idea of what we’d like to happen to our remains when we die. I know, it’s a grim subject matter and I’m sorry to be bringing this topic up during such tough times but hey — it’s a reality! While most of us are planning on being buried or cremated, I never would have considered being fed to live animals at the zoo after I pass. Thankfully for us, Ricky Gervais has taken it upon himself to come up with the brilliant idea so we didn’t have to.
Rick Gervais isn’t afraid to be brutally honest. The 59-year-old comedian is best known for his controversial takes on pop culture.
He gained a lot of respect with fans last spring after shutting down celebrities who were complaining about quarantining in their huge, Hollywood mansions.

“After this is over I never want to hear people moaning about the welfare state again, I never want to hear people moaning about nurses again,” Ricky emphasized.
“These people are doing 14-hour shifts and not complaining. Wearing masks, and being left with sores, after risking their own health and their families’ health selflessly.”
“But then I see someone complaining about being in a mansion with a swimming pool. And, you know, honestly, I just don’t want to hear it.”
Now, Ricky is making headlines for a much different reason, however, I’d argue it’s just as newsworthy, if not more so.
While chatting with Conan O’Brian on Monday, the comedian revealed what he fears about death.
“I suppose I worry about how I die,” Ricky admitted. “I don’t want to die alone, or in agony, or an embarrassing death.”
The comedian then revealed his ideal request for his after-life.
“I thought it would be good to be just fed to the lions at London Zoo. That would be useful, isn’t it?” he joked. “We never give anything back. We take everything from this world… everything we do is for us, we’re not even food for other things… At least then I could give something back.”
He continued to poke fun at himself, saying: “I’d like the look on the tourists’ faces when they throw this dead, fat, naked, 73-year-old, maybe, if I’m lucky, to the lions, and as it lands some people go, ‘Is that the bloke from *The Office?* They go, ‘What, Steve Carell?’ ‘No, not [expletive] Steve Carell. He’s much fatter than Steve Carell.'”
Now, the London Zoo has responded to Ricky’s request.
Kathryn England, Chief Operating Officer of ZSL London Zoo told the Daily Mail that the comedian may “a bit gristly for our lions.”
“But we are struggling financially because of lockdown so if anyone wants to ‘give something back’ we welcome donations that will help us keep our lions fed on a more suitable diet,” she concluded .
