In the 21st century, we no longer need to settle for a reasonably sized TV. There’s somewhat of an arms race going on, and it’s been to the benefit of couch potatoes. But when it comes to gigantic televisions, LG just fired a salvo across the bow with its latest offering.
The only catch, really, is the price .
Things have changed a lot.

If you’re over the age of 25 or so, you probably remember a time when CRT televisions were king. Most families would have a ‘main’ TV that was, like, 27 inches across. Big screens were rare. It’s easy to forget how much LCD TVs changed everything.
Some companies have started making massive TVs.

A couple of years back, Samsung rolled out a gargantuan 292-inch TV, big enough to cover an entire wall.
Judging by the recent announcement, LG probably saw Samsung’s offering, thought about it a moment, and said, “Hold my remote.”
LG’s TV is monolithic.

This TV lineup from LG, officially known as the Direct View LED (DVLED) Extreme Home Cinema , comes in a few sizes. They’re all pretty big, but the showstopper is the biggest one, which measures 325 inches. That’s more than 27 feet.
You can get a more reasonably sized one, too.

It’s nice to have options, but this TV looks distinctly underwhelming after seeing a genuine 27-footer.
The lineup uses millions of LED diodes to create a picture. There’s the regular 16:9 aspect ratio, of course, but the televisions can adapt for more cinematic resolutions as well.
It seems like quite an experience.
You can’t get one of these TVs in your home just yet, but LG is accepting preorders.
How much might one set you back? Well, for the gargantuan 325-inch set, it’ll cost an eye-watering $1.7 million to bring home that 8K goodness.
When size matters…
As a child of the ’90s, I’m totally satisfied with my 50-inch set. It feels like a big screen TV to me. But I wonder if it would be possible to go back after experiencing a 325-inch TV?
It’s like a jumbotron in your own home.
Most of us probably don’t have $1.7 million to spend on a TV.
But, hypothetically, let’s say you did. Would you want a TV this big in your house? If so, what’s the first thing you’d watch on it? Let us know in the comments section!
