Whether you’re a big gamer or not, everyone has that one game they played as a kid that just resonates with them for life. For me, it’s Columns and Sonic the Hedgehog on Sega Genesis, Pokémon Red and Yellow on Game Boy Pocket, Pokémon Stadium on N64, and Kingdom Hearts on PS3. Or 4. I can’t remember. Okay, so maybe I have more than one.
No matter which game or gaming system stands out to you, gaming buffs will always remember the impact Super Nintendo had in the gaming world.
A Super Nintendo World is coming to Universal Studios, and we’re screaming, “Wa-hoo!”
Universal Studios has certainly made a name for itself with its Wizarding World of Harry Potter, and it was only a matter of time before a Utopian world dedicated to even just one video game was made.
The park is set to open at Universal Studios In Osaka, Japan first ahead of the Tokyo Olympics this summer, costing around $544 million dollars to make.
In the U.S., the plan is for the world to open at Universal Studios Hollywood sometime in either 2021 or 22, and at Universal Studios Orlando’s new Epic Universe theme park in 2023.

At least in Japan, the park will primarily be dedicated to Super Mario Bros., and will include many iconic landmarks in the Mushroom Kingdom, like Princess Peach’s castle and Bowser’s fortress.
It’s supposed to be chock-full of other iconic elements of the game, like the green warp pipes.
While there are very few details, I’m sure you will feel like you’re right in the game yourself!
In terms of attractions, only two have been confirmed for Osaka’s park so far.
I know you were probably wondering, and yes I am happy to confirm that, according to Orlando Informer , there will be an interactive Mario Kart attraction. No one is sure how it will be mapped out just yet, but I’m sure it will be nothing short of an amazing experience.
I would be thoroughly shocked and disappointed if the locations in the U.S. didn’t get a similar ride, but we’ll have to sit patient for the deets.
Another will be called Yoshi’s Adventures and is supposedly a more kid friendly ride.
Again, there are few details, but apparently it involves exploring the sights while on Yoshi’s back.
The whole park will be an experience and attraction in and of itself, especially with the park’s own Power Up Bands, which are pretty similar to Disney’s MagicBands or the wands at Wizarding World of Harry Potter.
Guests will be able to choose between Mario, Luigi, Peach, Daisy, Toadstool, and Yoshi-inspired bands, and after syncing the band to their phone, people will be able to use “their arms, hands, and entire bodies as they explore the new area.”
So it really will be like you’re in a game! How cool.
Well, we certainly can’t wait for more details to emerge and see the final pictures once Japan’s location opens this spring!
