Sure, this could just be an attempt to communicate with another member of the group, but I dunno…

Daryl himself (or should I say Norman Reedus) actually had something to say about the ASL in the show .
“I think it’s great that you see Daryl trying to learn new things and learn how to communicate,” Reedus said. “Both of those characters could definitely help us and so, you know, let’s communicate.”
