Television personality, Kristin Cavallari, faced major backlash from fans after her social media manager posted an “insensitive” and tone-deaf 9/11 tribute to Kristin’s Instagram, that ultimately got them fired.
If you’ve ever seen the reality-tv series,”Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County” then you probably remember Kristin Cavallari.
The show famously documented the lives of her and her friends and got the ball rolling for her career in fashion.

After moving to Los Angeles in 2005, Kristin briefly pursued a career in acting, and landed a few sporadic, minor television roles.
In 2013, she and her longtime boyfriend, Jay Cutler, tied the knot in Nashville, Tennessee, and have since had three children together.
Aside from being a mother and a wife, Kristin also now has her own reality series called “Very Cavallari”.
Very Cavallari was announced in April 2018, first aired on July 8, 2018, and has since been renewed for a third season.
The show essentially documents her day-to-day life as a mom, wife, and businesswoman.
It also walks fans through her launch of the flagship store for her jewelry line, Uncommon James.
Anyway, I’m sure most of you already know, Wednesday marked the 18th anniversary of 9/11.
On the morning of September 11th, 2001, two hijacked planes were intentionally flown and crashed into the twin towers — the World Trade Center site in New York City.
9/11 has been remembered as the largest and most devastating terrorist attack against America.
So, of course, every year thousands of people pay tribute to the colossal tragedy on social media.
Many celebrities remembered the day by sharing touching tributes on their social media.
And most of them were appropriate.
But reality-TV star, Farrah Abraham, was one celeb who was dragged all over the internet for her 9/11 tribute.
She took her daughter to the 9/11 memorial site.
And in the video’s caption she wrote: “WORKD TRADE CENTER,” misspelling World Trade Center.
She also wrote “Happy 9/11” on her Instagram stories.
As if it was some sort of holiday.
And to top it all off, she refers to the day as “7/11” in her video.
You know, the convenience store chain.
And now on to Kristin.
Celebrities often hire outside people to manage their social media accounts if they’re too busy to maintain their online presence for themselves.
And in this case, that’s exactly what Kristin did.
While her employee seemed to be doing a fine job (up until yesterday), fans noticed that the post made on Kristin’s behalf paying tribute to 9/11, fell short of being appropriate.
She really missed the mark, unfortunately.
A photo of Kristin standing on a New York City sidewalk and wearing a short, plunging black dress was uploaded to her Instagram.
“NYC for 24hrs. And what a time to be here..always remember,” read the caption .
Fans quickly dragged Kristin, unaware that it wasn’t her who actually uploaded the photo or created the caption.
Nonetheless, they raged on — pointing out how tasteless the tribute was.
Everyone seemed to be in agreement that the criticism this post received was “well-deserved”.
A plunging black dress doesn’t exactly seem relevant to one of — if not the largest American tragedies.
Fans urged Kristin to delete the photo from her account altogether.
But instead of removing the photo, Kristin changed the caption to just “NYC for 24hrs.”
A source explained to People that the image was taken on Tuesday and was “supposed to be posted” that evening.
But “then an employee took it upon herself to post it Wednesday with her own caption,” the source clarified.
The employee was then let go from her job.
The source went on to reveal that Kristin feels badly about the entire situation — the post, and having to fire her employee.
“The employee was fired,” the source confirmed . “Kristin feels bad about the situation”.
