Sunday nights MTV Video Music Awards marked the first pandemic award show and it was a huge hit from start to finish.
However, Kobe Bryant fans were left confused after the show’s “In Memoriam” segment left out the legendary basketball player, who died tragically in a helicopter accident along with his 13-year-old daughter Gianna and 7 others on January 26th, 2020.
It’s safe to say fans had never seen a VMA show that looked like it did on Sunday night. It was a MASK PARTY!
The whole show was filmed across various outdoor venues in NYC, and with no live audience, viewers got a streamlined and tbh great show filled with awesome performances!
However, many fans were left upset after beloved basketball player Kobe Bryant was left out of the “In Memoriam” segment of the show.

Twitter was quick to point out that Kobe was a recording artist who appeared on several music tracks throughout his career.
Fans took to social media to express their disappointment in the VMAs snub.

Fans insisted the tribute went far beyond music with the inclusion of actor’s such as Chadwick Boseman and Naya Rivera.
The VMAs have yet to comment on the snub, but it’s not looking good for the popular MTV award show.
