Covers of classic songs can be a really touchy subject. There are some artists who just shouldn’t be messed with. For example, it should be illegal to cover the Beatles (unless it’s Stevie Wonder’s cover of “We Can Work it Out”) or Elvis Presley. If I have to hear one more 20-something strumming on a guitar singing “Can’t Help Falling In Love,” I’m turning off the radio forever! Isn’t anything sacred anymore?!
With that being said, I am much more open to more modern songs being covered — I’m not a total crab apple! Plus, any song released in the past 10 years can’t be considered a classic yet so whatever , it’s fair game!
If you’re like me, you’re totally, TOTALLY sick of the song “Shallow” by Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper.
Radio stations really know how to play a song to death , don’t they?!
While I liked the song at first, I can’t say I feel the same these days.
However, this new version by Kelly and Garth sounds like a totally different song!
And I promise I mean that in a good way.
To be fair, do either Garth or Kelly do anything that isn’t amazing?
Maybe it’s just the Garth Brooks fan in me but I can’t find a flaw in that man!
I could listen to him sing or talk about his love for his wife, Trisha, ALL DAY!
The same goes for Kelly!
I have been a huge fan of hers ever since the American Idol days and now she has a talk show that I just can’t get enough of!
As aforementioned, Kelly Clarkson and Garth Brooks did an AMAZING cover of “Shallow” on Kelly’s show recently.

Isn’t it so nice to finally turn off all that Christmas music and enjoy some “normal” music again?
The video starts off adorably with Kelly totally fawning over Garth. Can I blame her? Absolutely not!
The pair spent the entire HOUR of Kelly’s show together.
WHAT A LUCKY GAL!
The pair went on to explain that they decided to sing “Shallow” in honor of Garth’s upcoming album where he covers the duet with his wife, Trisha Yearwood.
While I love Trisha, there are few voices as powerful and magnetic as Kelly’s. The duo did a fantastic job with the cover.
As it turns out, I wasn’t the only one who thought so!

“I thought I was sick of this song until this. This was so beautiful,” commented one fan.
“Better than the original! Seriously!” commented another.
As it turns out, I can’t help but agree! You know who else loved the cover? Trisha!
Her maturity and praise for Kelly’s duet with her husband mean I might have to buy Garth’s latest CD just for this loving couple’s cover.
Truth be told, Garth and Trisha are one of the few Hollywood couples that don’t make me cringe!
They make beautiful music together and are friends with Kelly Clarkson? What’s not to love?!
Now, y’all can be the final judge!
Whose version of the song do you like better? Gaga and Cooper, or Clarkson and Brooks?
