In one of the most heartwarming stories to come out of the news this week, Duchess Kate Middleton kept her promise to wear a pink dress to meet 5-year-old Mila Sneddon. The meetup came months after Mila, who is battling leukemia, participated in Kate’s Hold Still photography project.
Now, fans around the world are getting to see the pair’s introduction in their gorgeous, matching pink dresses.
The Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton is known for her philanthropic efforts, and her fabulous sense of style.
Recently, she used both of those attributes to make 5-year-old cancer patient Mila Sneddon’s dreams come true.
The Duchess first spoke to Mila on the phone back in August after Mila’s image had been selected as one of the final 100 for #HoldStill2020 project.
The photo, called “Shielding Mila,” shows the young girl waving to her dad from the other side of a window. Mila and her mother, Lynda, had to isolate away from Mila’s father, and big sister, to protect Mila while she was receiving chemotherapy for acute lymphoblastic leukemia.
The pair spoke of hopefully meeting one day and that they’d both wear their pink dresses when they did.
“I have to make sure I go and try to find myself a pink dress,” Kate told Mila at the time of their call last summer. “Hopefully, when one day, hopefully, Mila, we’ll get to meet, and then I’ll remember to wear my pink dress for you.”
Now, the sweet duo have finally got the chance to meet in person!
“I want to give you a big, squeezy cuddle,” Kate told Mila when she first walked in. “I love your dress. Can you give it a twirl?”
Posting a photo of the pair together, the caption read:
:It was so lovely to host Mila in her beautiful pink dress for tea at the Palace of Holyroodhouse today #HoldStill2020.”
