Jumanji is a timeless classic that got sort of rebooted by The Rock, but once upon a time, it was a movie that starred Robin Williams. And that movie had a sequel.
And no, it’s not The Next Level , the movie that’s out right now.

So there’s a new sequel out for that ‘Jumanji’ movie.
You know that one with the Rock where they go in the video game? The one that is based on a movie that was a book but not really because the first movie and book had board games in them?
But did you know that original movie and book had a sequel as well?
And it had nothing to do with video games or Danny Devito.
Chris Van Allsburg is the writer of the original picture book Jumanji, and it actually has a direct sequel.
It’s called “Zathura’.
And that book starts with the main characters finding Jumanji in the trash, losing interest in it, but finding the space-themed Zathura (also a board game) underneath it.
They then play that instead.
The plots are pretty similar. They play the game and wacky stuff happens.
Space-themed stuff!
And yes, if you were thinking “didn’t they make a movie about that?” then you’d be right. But there has been some debate as to whether the movie belongs in the Jumanji canon.
