Attention all Jon And Kate Plus 8 fans!
As you may already know, Jon Gosselin only lives with and regularly speaks to two of his eight children: Collin and Hannah.
So, it may have come as a surprise to see only Hannah in his latest Instagram post on July 4th. But as it turns out, he has a pretty solid explanation!
I’m assuming you all remember TLC’s *Jon And Kate Plus 8* because how could you possibly forget?! It was an iconic era for reality television.
And believe it or not, it’s been a whole 13 years since the show premiered.
Do you feel old or do you feel old?
The final episode of the show aired in November 2009.
It broke fans’ hearts across the country — mine included! The series eventually got renamed — dropping “Jon And” from the title.
Kate Plus 8 began airing in 2010, but was quickly shut down when Jon’s lawyers sent letters to TLC — demanding that they cease and desist production.
*Kate Plus 8* was eventually able to resume production, barring they didn’t exceed 150 episodes.
Jon and Kate’s divorce wasn’t exactly a clean break, and it did ultimately end up causing a bit of a divide between Jon and his children.
In May, he opened up to *Entertainment Tonight* about not seeing most of his children. In fact, aside from the two children of his that live with him, Hannah and Collin, he often doesn’t even speak to his kids.
“My wish is that all my kids would just be together, like, hang out together,” he told ET .
“Kate and I don’t live that far away from each other and I feel like there’s an invisible wall,” he went on.
“They should just be able to just get together. I mean, I have no qualms about it.”
“If they wanna go meet each other, just go ahead,” he said. “But I feel like it’s more on the other side.”
He explained that he hasn’t been “stopping them from coming together,” adding that he “can’t speak for the other side.”
“I’m hoping that when my kids — and they will get their license, and when I say my kids I’m referring to Hannah and Collin — that they’ll just drive to school and pick up their siblings.”
“And legally, no one can stop them from doing so,” he added .
He revealed that his eldest twins, Mady and Cara, haven’t spoken to him in “six years or seven years.”
Jon said that he hopes when they are adults, they’ll be more open to reconciling their relationship.
We hope so too for his sake!
“I just give it time, maybe as adults they’ll come talk to me. I don’t know.”
“The time has been so much, I mean, when I look back it is upsetting, because I did spend a lot of time with my twins,” he said .
“But they told me they don’t want me to talk about them in the press,” he said.
“So I try not to talk about them in the press because I don’t really know them .”
Anyways, on the fourth of July, Jon shared a photo on Instagram of himself, his daughter Hannah, and his girlfriend, Colleen Conrad.
Hoping not to stir up any rumors about his son, Collin’s whereabouts, Jon made sure to explain in the caption *why* Collin wasn’t included in the shot.
“Happy Fourth of July to every one!!! Sorry for the late post!!!,” he captioned the post.
He explained that Collin wasn’t keen on spending the fourth of July with his family, and instead, decided to celebrate it with his friends.
“Collin had other plans with his friends this weekend, that’s why he is not in the picture,” he wrote .

He also added that he feels like it is a shame that he had to explain it at all!
“(Shame I have to explain all that, but I just did)!!!!,” he wrote.
It’s definitely a shame, but it’s better than the alternative: Sparking unnecessary rumors.
Jon’s girlfriend, Colleen, also shared a photo of herself, Jon, and Hannah, with a similar caption to Jon’s.
“Happy 4th of July!! Missing Collin who dissed us for his friends,” she wrote .
