Jim Carrey has been under fire recently for telling a female news reporter she was the last thing left to do on his bucket list.
The 58-year-old comedian sat down with “Heat” magazine’s Charlotte Long for an interview earlier this week to discuss his new movie, his career and his outstanding “bucket list” items.
However, things took an uncomfy turn quickly when Charlotte asked about Jim’s bucket list.
“I know in your film, Sonic has a bucket list, and I was wondering after all you’ve done in your career and your life, is there anything still left on your bucket list?” she asks.
Jim quickly replies back: “Just you.”
He continues after a few seconds, “That’s it. It’s all done now.”
Charlotte seems taken aback and laughs uncomfortably and replies that she doesn’t know what to say to that.
Jim’s response? “Just own it.”
After Twitter expressed their disgust at Jim’s comments, the actor’s representative is firing back.
In a statement to Fox News , the rep called the whole thing “a ridiculous non-story.”
Their statement continues: “The full quote was ‘Just you! That’s it, I’m all done now! Jim was clearly referring to the interview as being on his bucket list and was in no way referring to the journalist herself. This is just another example of a clickbait headline pandering to ‘scroll culture.'”
The rep echoed these same comments in a similar statement to “Yahoo!” calling the interview “good-naturedly.”
Charlotte Long has yet to comment on the ordeal.
