However, the 40-year-old has been catching some heat for posting a series of pictures with Mel Gibson.
He didn’t just POST the pictures, he had a full fanboy moment on Insta.
“ICON. legend MEL you made my childhood amazing MAD MAX MARTIN RIGGS WILLIAM WALLACE in my opinion even a greater director,” he gushed.
He continued: “thank you sir for APOCALYPTO and yes anything you need from me IM [expletive] IN MEL. good to see u as always peter you always light me up love u bro.”
He concluded with a series of hashtags including “#intheworks”, “#punchmeimdreaming”, and “#imafan”.
Fans have expressed their disdain at Jason’s post, due to Mel Gibson’s controversial past.
Back in 2006, Mel was arrested for drunk driving. During the arrest, the actor used anti-Semitic and racial slurs.
Mel was then accused of domestic violence by ex-girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva in 2010, to which Mel pleaded no contest to one count of misdemeanor spousal battery.
He would later be sentenced to three years’ probation and one year of counseling for domestic violence.
Not to be forgotten, his additional two whole days of community service.
Despite the allegations, the 64-year-old’s career barely suffered any backlash.
He starred in Edge of Darkness in 2010, Machete Kills in 2013, The Expendables 3 in 2014, and Blood Father in 2016.
Needless to say, many fans are disappointed in Mr. Momoa’s choice to support Mel.
Some Twitter users are calling for Jason to be cancelled.
“Wait I thought Gibson was cancelled? He’s said & done some awful things to the LGBT community, minorities, & women,” read one comment on Instagram.
“Bummer you did this. He’s never fully repented for his anti semitism. Unfollowing,” wrote another fan on Insta.
Some people also pointed out that Jason called out Chris Pratt for using a plastic water bottle a few months back, but is okay with endorsing Mel.

Jason *quickly* commented on the plastic water bottle and sent the internet into a tizzy.
The actor actually owns his own line of canned water in an effort to reduce single use plastic waste.
So the call out kinda makes sense?
However, the uproar about the plastic bottle but not about Mel Gibson’s past did not go unnoticed by fans.
Jason has yet to comment on the backlash.
It appears the trio of Jason, Mel, and Peter Dinklage will be working on a project together in the future.
