People on TikTok are showing their discontent after a user shared a clip in disbelief because she was dress coded at her job. The video, posted by @urthecutestjeans , has over 107.3K likes and opened a debate on whether it was personal or correct.
In the 9-second clip, the poster shows a 360-degree of the outfit she got dress coded for, which consisted of a red t-shirt with mid-tight denim shorts with strings on them. She added an overlaid text explaining that she pushes carts all day.
‘They Always Only Dress Code The Girls’
In the video’s caption, the poster added that this is a common issue among girls in her job. She also commented that her male co-workers always wear similar clothes and have never been called out by their boss.
What Was The Real Reason?
Later the TikToker made an update, explaining that her boss told her that the problem was the length of the shorts, not the strings, because she could cut them off. She also said that the shorts didn’t have strings initially, but they often get caught in the carts and ripped them.
Some users suggested that maybe the shorts didn’t pass the hand rule, meaning that the fingertips shouldn’t be longer than the pants; still, in the video, she clearly shows that her short goes way longer than her fingertips.
It Is Not Inappropriate
Most comments agreed with the poster, saying that there was nothing wrong with her clothes and that her boss was overreacting. They pointed out that they weren’t even short shorts and that it is a regular fit that many people use daily.
A person joked, ‘how you got dress coded this literally the go to fit for teachers when they go on field trips,’ while another noted that since she works at H-E-B, she can look up on the manual and check that shorts should pass the knee, to which she responded that that wasn’t the point she was making.
Apparently Is Distracting
Many users, and the poster herself, alluded that the supposed problem was her body, which could be distracting for customers and male co-workers. However, they agreed that this wasn’t her problem, but people who can’t respect the right of a woman to wear something she feels comfortable with.
Someone wrote, ‘Some people just can’t control their eyes and then make it your problem,’ adding to the point, while others joked, saying that her boss and co-workers are jealous of how good she looks in the Old Navy shorts.
