A Newborn Baby Rescued From Collapsed Building In Syria

A newborn baby girl was also rescued from a collapsed building in northwest Syria. The building was one of the 50 that was reportedly destroyed by a 7.8-magnitude earthquake in Jindayris. The baby girl’s mother went into labor and gave birth after the earthquake hit.
The Mom Did Not Make It
Unfortunately, the mother, father, four siblings, and an aunt died. The baby’s uncle, Khalil al-Suwadi said that relatives went to the scene when they learned of the earthquake. While digging, the baby’s voice was heard and she was found.
The Baby’s Condition Was Critical

The umbilical cord was still intact, so they had to cut it before taking the child to the hospital. Paediatrician Hani Maarouf said the baby had severe bruises, lacerations, and hyponatremia when she arrived. A doctor at a nearby hospital in Afrin later said the baby was in stable condition.

The death toll across Syria and Turkey has been increasing. The baby girl’s family was among the 1,800 people known to have been killed by the earthquake in Syria. 4,500 people were also killed in Turkey where the epicenter was.
The Fatality Records
So far, the White Helmets reported 1,020 deaths. They also warned that the figure might rise since hundreds were still trapped. They also urged humanitarian organizations and international bodies for assistance to aid the rescue efforts.
Deliveries Were Halted Temporarily Due To The Damaged Roads

Parts Of Syria Initially Relied On Humanitarian Aid

Other deliveries were to go through Damascus. Before the earthquake hit, 4.1 million people in Syria already relied on humanitarian aid to survive. Kurdish-led forces, Jihadist forces, the Syrian government, and Syrian rebels are in control of the affected regions.
There Are Secondary Concerns
The latest update on the earthquake disaster has shown that the World Health Organization is concerned about a secondary disaster that could affect those that have been rescued so far. According to CNN , the concerns border on climate change and whether the snow could lead to worsened conditions for those out in the open.
